Dad NEVER enjoys the process of Christmas decoration (he's a man of routine, and redecorating the living room, which is where most of the decorations go, is a major disruption to him) and this year, he's hiding in his room <g>. In years past, he would retrieve the decorations from the rafter part of the attic (which I hate--I worry about someday falling through the floor and into a room below) and carry them down the 13 steps into the living room, then carry the boxes back upstairs. The last couple years, he's hauled the boxes of decorations from the rafters into the big main room of the attic but left them there for me to carry up and down the stairs. This year, he wouldn't even do that. I'm undecided if he just figures he's too old for all that manual labor (which I would COMPLETELY understand and agree with) or is simply refusing to contribute to an activity he actively hates.

I still have to put out the Christmas throws and pillows, and I figure I'll grab the tree and ornaments from the rafters and move them to the attic big room but I'm not going to suggest we put up the tree for at least another few days. As much as the tree is my favorite part of the living room decor, it does involve moving the loveseat away from the picture window, which means Dad will lose his prime spot for reading, napping and sunning himself.
