Addiction is rampant. It is a difficult affliction to treat. It can destroy people and those who love them and often others who get caught in the cross hairs of the destruction that comes with addiction.
My hope is that this tragedy helps more people take a serious look at addiction and looking for ways to effectively address it. I do not claim to have answers, but I can say I have known many addicts. Some are still alive and are in recovery. Some are alive in a life of torment as they have never been able to give up the demons that control them. Others have died. I cannot fathom from seeing the day in day out torment that goes along with addiction that any of these people want to live that way.
