in the way you described to convey what a character is thinking and wants to say but is afraid to say (yet). If texting is going to be used, I think it has to be done in a way that gives viewers a fighting chance to actually read it though. I’m trying to think of what shows I’ve watched recently that it didn’t feel well done. A lot of shows do use texting now to show characters communicating. I guess just like everything else, it can be done well and not well.
