(warning--TMI about icky body functions)
A couple weeks ago, I started experiencing some...stickiness in my right ear canal. After being awake and vertical for a bit, it would go away. Yesterday when I woke up, my right ear felt blocked and sound was muffled. I'm 95% sure it's due to excess ear wax, as I've had that happen before (but not for a loooooong time). My hearing improved slightly by the afternoon but this morning, it was the same thing, so I weighed my options and decided to try the Minute Clinic at a nearby CVS. They're always advertising that walk ins are welcome, and once before, I'd checked to see if ear wax removal was a service they provide and indeed it is.
When I got to the Minute Clinic, there was only a few people waiting. I went up to the kiosk and the first question I was asked (by the computer) was "appointment or walk in?" I selected walk in. I then gave the computer my name, date of birth and phone number, then selected "ear wax removal" when asked why I was there. Only then did the system inform me there were no more walk in appointments today but I could come back Friday if I wanted to. Um, no...I have a family brunch in the morning and work in the evening. Why couldn't the system tell me there was no more walk in spots right after I chose "walk in"?
After grabbing a couple last minute grocery items at two different grocery stores, I decided to try my luck at another Minute Clinic a few towns over. When I walked in, ALL the chairs were empty...it was closed all day today. The part of me that hated working (sometimes) on Christmas Eve totally understood...the part of me that just wants full hearing back was annoyed that a place providing medical services couldn't be bothered to be open today (and yet Dollar General is open till 10:00 PM tonight). I grabbed an OTC ear wax removal kit and am hoping for the best.
Again, sorry for the TMI! Incidentally, singing along with the congregation tonight at church was reaaaaaaallllly weird.
