In reply to: Anyone score any good after Christmas deals? I got a new tree for $62! posted by Kris
It's 7.5 feet tall, with 400 lights that can be either white OR colored and has 1100 branch tips! It's also about 10 inches larger in diameter than my current tree so hopefully it will fit more ornaments next year.

Wow--$62? Score! I would love a tree that has lights you can set to either white or colored but the fake tree we have is only a couple years old (and wasn't nearly as good of a deal as you got--I think ours was around $150 and was a floor model) so we'll have it for years unless something happens to it. I *did* get two more ornaments this year at Target and spent 10 minutes trying to figure out where the heck to put them on the tree <g>.

I also bought two projector things (one projects snowflakes, the other just red and green lights), three sets of icicle lights, two light 'nets', and two inflatables. One of the inflatables is a mug with marshmallows floating in it and the other is a big gingerbread house and I know I paid too much for it ($50 at Walmart) but I LOVE gingerbread houses. I want to eventually figure out how to make our house look like a giant gingerbread house for Christmas.

😄 Sounds beautiful and very festive!

And in non-Christmas deals, my MIL's clubhouse in her community is redecorating so they offered up all the furniture for sale to residents and resident's families. We had to bid on them, and on Monday we bid $35 each for two armchairs and $20 for one of the boardroom chairs. We won all three! The armchairs are kind of ugly (bright orange, which is Mr. Kris's favorite color but doesn't really go in the house) but they're in good shape, only about 10 years old or so, and slipcovers are pretty cheap on Amazon. We're going to put one armchair upstairs so I can sit next to the bay window and read, and the other is going in the family room for now. We may eventually get a love seat down there and bring the other armchair upstairs. The board room chair Mr. Kris is planning on bringing to work. And my SIL won the bid for one of the couches!

LOVE the deal you got on the armchairs! And yes, slipcovers are indeed very reasonable. My nephew has a small but very nicely decorated house; my favorite piece of furniture in his house is a beautiful leather burgundy armchair that he got for free when a golf course he briefly worked at (in addition to working several other jobs at the time) redecorated their clubhouse. The chair is a tiny bit "distressed" but it actually adds to the charm.

No good deals for me this year but my good church friend found a treasure at Target last Sunday. She has a collection of velvet reindeer, all around 2' tall, that she puts out every year at Christmas. She's been looking for a green one for several years now but the only ones she could find were out of her price range. We were at Target spending the gift cards we'd gotten each other for Christmas (it's practically a tradition now <g>) and she was saying she wasn't going to buy any more Christmas decorations...and then I spied a green velvet reindeer that looked just like the others in her collection. AND it was only $3 AND she had a gift card. Sold!
