captions turned on so that might be why. I watch everything with CC on.
I also couldn’t read whatever texting there was and didn’t care enough to pause and try to read the texts.
I genuinely, deeply HATE texting onscreen in a movie or show. I get it, we live in the age of text messages. I text all the time myself but I hate it in media because the writing is either too small (for us visually impaired) or it flashes by too quick and I have to rewind and pause. It's annoying to me.
I hate the onscreen texting trend too. I get that it’s because that’s how people communicate but I wish it was done in a way that’s more easily readable. Maybe don’t show the text on the phone. Just show the character reading their phone but subtitle that text. Also, if you’re not watching the show alone, it’s annoying to others to constantly want to rewind and pause to read the texts.
Overall, I’m not wowed by this show but it’s only 6 episodes so I’ll watch it to see where it goes. It probably doesn’t help that I don’t like hockey or techno music. So far, I’m not getting the hype.
I liked the show just fine but I wasn't wow'ed by it either. I think it's because I'm a very plot heavy person. I like there to be a lot more than just a romance going on in a story. Like if they were falling in love while trying to solve a crime or battle an enemy or something I would've been more into that. But I'm thrilled the show exists and has found the success it has.
One recent example of a gay romance that I loved is Fellow Travelers. That had a very compelling plot and, to me, more compelling lead actors in Matt Bomer and Jonathan Bailey. I’m just not wowed by either of the lead actors in HR. Maybe they’ll grow on me. I think I’m going to finish it (unless I can’t get the subtitles working and/or find a way to read the texts).
