A couple decades ago, when my nephew graduated from high school in North Carolina, I took time off to go visit and celebrate with him. Since his party was in late May, I was expecting warm temperatures and packed shorts and t-shirts. I'd barely arrived when I found myself at Kohl's shopping the clearance rack for jeans and long-sleeve t-shirts.
