We used to have a polling company located here that was bought out by Gallup. They used to have focus groups and we went to one and got a gift card.

Also, pre-retirement we got a lot of investment dinner invitations and still get a few. We went to one that was held by our financial planner-no pressure since we were signed up.

Medicare advantage groups are really pushy. We ignore them....I'm not that mobile and their seminars are cheap affairs. Also, my brother-in-law was in one and later had serious health issues and kept being denied service. Luckily he was able to re-enroll in traditional Medicare.

And lastly, my in-laws were involved in a hotel time share. We were able to spend a beautiful week in Pagosa Springs, CO. at a resort but we had to go to a sales pitch. The agent was pretty aggressive but we weren't buying. One of their enticements was if you spent a ton of money on their fees, you would be sure to take a lot of vacations. When I mentioned that our son was in college, the agent said he could get loans and a job!
