at either Payless or Kmart. I'm still wearing--and still getting compliments on--a pair of sandals from the Selena Gomez "Dream Out Loud" line at Kmart. Were the shoes from Payless super well made and designed to last forever? No. But they fit well and I got a lot of use out of them and dang it, Christian Louboutin does NOT make shoes in a 10W (not that I could afford anything he makes...and no, going up a size doesn't help). The price was an added benefit to my Payless and Kmart shoes.
I would also add to your rant that when I *do* find a shoe in a 10W, it's often ugly. Sneakers usually come in black or white--rarely any other color. People tell me to go to a local store that specializes in wide (and narrow) sizes...yeah, their shoes are pretty cute but many of them also START at $120. Once, a couple decades ago, I broke down and bought a navy dress pump that cost me about 7x what I would've paid at Payless or Kmart (at the time, the latter stores were selling shoes for as little as $10). My costly shoes broke after two wearings. TWO wearings.
I wish you luck in your search! I wish I could offer up suggestions but yeah, I got nothing (except that once in a while, the Shoe Dept one town over will have a few wide sizes at a price that won't drain my checking account).
