subscription to WorthPoint? It's apparently a website where folks can sell vintage or antique items but if you don't have a subscription (which apparently you have to pay for, which...pfft, nope, not happening), you can't see what items are valued at or selling for.

I was curious because I was rummaging around the attic (thankfully raccoon-free now for several weeks) and ran across this: [link] Apparently, when I left the bindery and took everything not nailed down, I was just following in my mother's footsteps. She worked at Howard Johnson's as a waitress back in the 60s (and met my dad there), and because of that, we now have two tall parfait glasses, eight (give or take one or two) sundae glasses and this HoJo cup and saucer. The cup is dated August 1940 and the saucer is a year older. I don't think I would get rid of it despite Dad's permission to do so--it was actually his personal cup and saucer from his courting days--but I was curious if it was worth anything other than sentiment.

I live in perpetual hope that some day, that overstuffed attic full of junk will actually reveal some hidden treasure that could fund my retirement. You know all the stories of folks finding lost Rembrandt paintings or a violin purported to have been played on the Titanic, etc. So far, all we have are old (but not old enough to be properly "vintage") beat up suitcases, old report cards...and raccoons (plus a red squirrel that has so far evaded capture).
