asking for an item but how much items actually sold for. In my experience, a lot of people price items at ridiculously high levels hoping, I guess, to find suckers who don’t know how overpriced an item is and pay it because they want it so much. The internet is a much wider net than any collectibles store or flea market in town. Therefore the internet is statistically more likely to find someone stupid enough to pay an inflated price. Even on Amazon, I frequently see people trying to sell $4 Trader Joe’s items for $20. 😳They go to TJs, buy a bunch of inexpensive items and then try to sell them on Amazon or EBay or some other site for 3, 4, 5x the original price. No doubt people are doing the same thing with antiques and collectibles.
