If they can't figure out anything for her to do other than prop the pairings of the town's resident psychos (Phyllis and Adam) then they should just get rid of her. Because this is ridiculous.
Absolutely! I don't even recognize her anymore. The Sharon Newman, I loved, disappeared a long time ago.

No, they aren't boring. The writers seem to hate Sharon. They make her even worse by stalking them.
