Have to admit I'm kind of surprised by this but I think DT was a better teen Billy than adult Billy. Although I'm trying to remember NuBilly on Nashville the character's name doesn't sound familiar at all

David Tom Out at 'The Young and the Restless', Replaced by Burgess Jenkins as Billy Abbott
Posted by Roger Newcomb
In a surprise casting move three and a half months after David Tom returned to The Young and the Restless, the role of Billy Abbott has been recast again. According to Daytime Confidential, Burgess Jenkins will replace Tom, who returned to Y&R in February after Billy Miller left the show.

Tom won a Daytime Emmy Award in 2000 for his portrayal of Billy, but two-time Emmy winner Billy Miller was hard to replace, even by a former actor. The character took on many of Miller's traits over the course of his run (September 2008-January 2014) and had moved far away from the young adult Billy that Tom played before.

Despite some excellent performances by Tom, there was something not quite working with the character of Billy lately for many viewers.

Jenkins is no stranger to the world of TV serials having appeared in Army Wives (Eddie Hall), Nashville (Randy Roberts) and One Tree Hill (Bobby Irons).

In the summer of 2000 Burgess landed the coveted role of Ray Budds in the Blockbuster Remember the Titans opposite two time Academy award winner Denzel Washington. His other film credits include In/Significant Others, Hero and The Shunning.

Y&R has not yet commented on the recasting to explain why they made the switch, or to announce Tom's last air date.
