Happy Anniversary" Trace Akins

It was great having Trace Adkins drops in on today's episode. I really liked the song that he played. And it was very special that Nick did this for Phyllis today for their anniversary.

BTW, Nick did a great job, having the place decorated in Western Bar style. It was very romantic what he did for Phyllis for their 1st anniversary, IMHO

Adam thinks Skye looks hot as hell in that dress. Skye remarks sarcastically smooth talker..line like that.. and the Newman name. Women must be all over him. Adam wouldn't know, he dosn't use the name and too busy working. Skye guesses that Adam is interested in someone unavailable Adam is pretty tight lipped and says nothing. Skye says that he always loved competition. Adam says her too, he bets there is a deck of cards and table full of chumps waiting for her. Skye laughs

Adam says always was, but he looks bothered. and it sounds like Adam/Skye have no-strings relationship.

Jabot

David asks if is the game is still on tonight. Brad gives him the thumbs up that no one from Jabot will be there. So Nikki will never know that he is there

Brad says "hello stranger" Paul observes Brad/Heather chatting, looking not to happy. Brad asks if she wants go dinner on the weekend? Heather says absolutely.
Paul says hi and asks if she is free for dinner. He wants to know, how dinner is going?

Brad never understand why she abandoned the men's line. Jill says they had to make sacrifices, since Jabot was in trouble. Brad says that Newman had a lot of success in the area and they could give them a run for a money. Jill asks if he talked to Nikki about. Brad says no, he wanted to go over with her first. He gives her the premilary proposal Jill points out there reason they have direct report and Nikki is hers. They need to trust the leadership of Jabot. She will take to Nikki and David and come up with a proposal he will happy with it.
Jill states that Jabot is more than business to her, very personal. Brad says John Abbott legacy. Jill isn't going to lie to him, her egos involved. It always going to be John's company and Brad says she wants to honor it. Ditto for Brad. He says professional, John was his mentor. Personally, he was like his father. He wants to her know, he will help her anyway he can.
I'm glad that they are both looking out for John's company. Because we know that David is probably going to try to use the Jabot for his gambling. And Nikki will never see that coming.

Nikki rants she has a little Jill on her shoulder and gives new meaning to the word micro-manager.
David thinks she insecure in hew position, Nikki doesn't understand why she is perfectly capable. David sucks her up that she is a threat to Jill. no, you are the trouble, David and Jill know it
Nikki wants to talk about tonight. David lies that he can't he has a meeting with an old friend from Granville Global. He sneakily has arranged a massage for her at AC and send a naive Nikki on her way.

Brad/David/Skye
Poker Party at Brad's

Brad wasn't sure that Skye would show. She either, it's a little intimidating. Brad says will go easy on him. He introduces her to the guys, Rory and Rafe. Brad says she is newbie. Skye plays a little, not much. Brad gives her some tips last night. Skye asks if anyone else is coming. Brad says two more.

David finally arrives, late due to a conference call. He asks who is the six. Brad introduces David to Skye. At the table, she seems to recognize David. Well, David did come NYC, when he first came to town.

The poker game is going under way and quite interesting to watch as they play Skye. David gets a flush and thinks he won. But Brad defeats him with Jack high. David looks very frustrated, while the devious Skye smiles

As they play long, the stakes keep getting higher. A sneaky Skye folds, even though she has wining edge with the Ace's. David wins the game as Skye smirks. She is a totally shark setting him up. David better enjoy his winnings while he can, because she is going to win it all soon. BTW, can't wait to see what happens next.

Gloria/Jeffery/Lauren/Paul/Esther
Scene 1

Jeffery asks Gloria if she could spare a few minutes for her husband? Gloria coolly says the husband that is divorcing her and living with Jill. Jeff says he doesn't want her, things are getting out of hand. Did they make a mistake?

Gloria mocks his words. He hasn't said a truthful words since they met and should have the actor, not Alistair. Jeffery tells her that his uncle money should have passed to him, after William died. her. But she ended up with it and he decided to end up with her. Gloria retorts when she didn't like him, he blackmailed her for it. That changed and she knows it. He never planned on falling on her, but he did. Gloria sneers asks what game are they playing now, truth or consequences. Jeff intensely says there are consequences, they played this game so long, she thinks he are playing now But this is from his heart, a place that neither of them going very often.

Admitting we care, means admitting we can be hurt. I care, Gloria and I know you care do

He says to risk it, does she want to be with him? Gloria thought she did the other night. Jeff says they connected. A ticked Gloria says he connected with Jill. Jeff says it was part of the game. A frustrated Gloria says always the game and asks he is between the sheets with her. She states that one great night of sex, doesn't make up for all the lying and cheating. She built a marriage on that. Jeff says if she thinks it's hopeless, nothing left to say. Gloria can manage to live without him. This is nothing with what she lived through

Jeff simply walks away. Gloria is acting like a self-righteous hypocrite here. All she did was lie and deceive John and William. But Bravo to Ted and Judith who gave a powerful performance

Paul runs into Lauren and Fen(in the carriage) "Does your mother know, you are out this late" Lauren says they went to a puppet show in the activities room and asks Paul to join her. He has been thinking of all her day long. Lauren says it would have been their 24th wedding anniversary. Paul says that can't be right. They kid about it not being right, since they were toddlers at the time LOL. He says look at her. Lauren says married woman with a baby. Paul says his daughter is back in his life. She loves her job at Jabot and things are good. Lauren asks if they are getting along. Paul is learning a whole new level of patience. Lauren laughs him, patience LOL. Paul is letting her set the pace, but it's not easy. It's tough and he sees her doing something but wants to says she is making a mistake. Lauren says his good advice, sounds like a meddling to her. Paul says he thinks she is seeing Brad, and Lauren is stunned. He is giving her the benefit of the doubt and very smart, trusts her. Lauren asks if he can trust Brad, Paul says no. .

Lauren laughs she is burning all those photos with the blue shadow. Paul was sweet that she always looks great to him. Lauren was horrible and Paul says she has her attributes. I love the Lauren brought up the time, when she submitted his nude photos to the magazine. She thought he was going to kill her when they made him the centerfold. Paul says that cross his mind. He stands corrected that she was horrible. Lauren laughs hat he is still speaking to her. Paul says she couldn't get rid of him if she tries. Lauren laughs sarcastically unlike her mother-in-law. Gloria says hi to Lauren and Paul. Lauren tries to make a quick exit with Fen, but it's fails. Paul wishes her happy anniversary and kisses her hand. I really enjoyed that writers showed Paul and Lauren remembering their anniverary. Paul and Lauren will always be one of my favorite couples
And I love that they are still close friends. And it refreshing to see Lauren in a scene with her without her clan, for a little while.

Gloria asks what anniversary. Lauren said inside joke. LOL She whines that she tries to do the right thing but makes things worse. Lauren sarcastically notes that she had another argument with Jeffery. Gloria says now she is making fun of her. Lauren retorts she is calling her the way she sees it. Gloria fears this time, she has pushes him too far. She thinks that Jeffery is gone to good. Lauren asks can she blame him? Gloria wishes how they got her Lauren says "Classic Gloria. Why have peace, when you can have drama" Gloria says drama is all over with. Lauren hopes she means it and she does. Lauren says he has really been improving, she moved out the mansion and convinced Michael to drop the lawsuit. It's a start.Gloria asks why hasn't her karma changed. Lauren says it doesn't happen over night. She whines that she has been trying hard, but her life, karma has change Lauren wants to be frank her. She does one shift in the soup kitchen, she quits. She decides to adopt a child and drops that. She is still doing the destructive dance with Jeffery

Gloria asks enlighten one, tell her what to do? Lauren suggest she be honest with family and Jeff. If she really cares about him, tell him!! It's not second grade, don't attack him. LOL Gloria retorts that he is already living with Jill, she thinks she is little late. Lauren is right that she never know until she tries. Fen starts crying and she tells him that they will go home. Gloria thanks her, she knows excactly what she is going to do. Lauren says don't announce it, do it. Gloria tells Fen that she is going to make him very proud of his grandmother. She then calls her lawyer.

In a stunning move, Gloria tells her lawyer that she wants to donate half her fortune to Charity. Sheesh, she didn't listen to Lauren. Donating money won't show that she is trying to change. That has to come within. It would be better if Gloria went into therapy. She really needs it to change.

Scene 2
Chancellor Mansion

Esther is heading out for bowling night, so if he gets hungry... lentil burgers in the fridge. LOL Jeff laughs and says maybe he will dine with Mrs. C instead. Esther says she is playing bridge for the night. She sarcastically wishes him a nice night and departs. Jeffery calls Jill at Jabot and wonders if they could have dinner. Jill says she too busy and tells him she got to call.
Later Jill tells the secretary that she got to go, she has a houseguest

Later Jeffery thanks the lawyer for coming on short notice. She retorts that she prefers seeing clients in her office, but what's the problem. Jeff says his marriage.
The lawyer advises Jeff to take a week or so, just in case there is a change of heart. Jeff bluntly says he wants to file for divorce immediately. He wants what he is entitled to, half of everything. Jill overhears everything. Hmm, wonder what Jill is going to do with that information. So Gloria could end with nothing. LOL, that's ironic.

Paul/Nikki

Nikki notes that a distracted Paul looks a million miles away at his table. Paul says it's not easy being a parent. Nikki, hears him hear and suggests a massage for him. Paul asks if she would join him, until David gets here. Nikki says that she is on her own tonight.
Paul says that's the funny thing about having kids. Even when they are young adults, it makes you remember how you were at their age. Nikki recalls being a wild child as he knows. Paul chuckles she thinks, then she met TGVN. Any regrets? Nikki thoughtfully says they had lot of wonderful years..children and grandchildren. Not sure, what happened. Somewhere along the way, it changed. Paul asks what about now? Does David make her happy. Nikki says he is kind, loyal and considerate. He is the anti-Victor and she loves him

Paul is enjoying the key lime pie. Nikki is off her in own little word and says nothing. She is sorry, it's been one of those days. Paul notes that she has been having quite a few those lately. He saw her at the Christening. She says she was happy there. Paul clarifies she was acting happy. He know her, she is worried about something. He doesn't want to pry. Nikki asks why does people say that before they do. Paul cares about her. "Friends look out for friends" Nikki says when they work and live with the same person, but a stress on the person. Paul says that a good answer, most people would buy it. What's really going on? David gambling again? Nikki doesn't know, but something is wrong. Whenever she asks him, he dodges it. That's what addicts do, they lie and do whatever they have to do, until they hit bottom. Paul asks has he? Nikki says he is going to therapy. Paul asks what does she think

I hate to say this, Paul. I don't trust him. I do think he is gambling again

And she is right. And the fact that she doesn't trust him, should be her signal to end the relationship. I think if Nikki doesn't get out now, David is going to drag her down with him.
But I enjoyed Paul being a good friend to Nikki, right now.

Phyllis/Nick
Restless Style Building

Things are going wrong at work, printers busted, some writer is in rehab. Phyllis says if they don't find a replacement, they will be writing tonight, instead of celebrating their anniversary
Later Phyllis is striking out, finding a writer. Nick has the wrong part delivered. A frustrated Phyllis says they are never going to make the Colonnade room. Nick says never says never and he is going to fix this. Hang in there.
Nick has to run to get the part. Then it gets worse and the power goes. Nick thinks it's the fuse. Phyllis is going to lose her mind, if another thing goes wrong. Nick can fix this but she has to get the part from the printer. Phyllis whines that they are never going to make it the Collande Room. Nick says that may be true and suggests she gets takeout. Nick will do his best to get the lights and will celebrate another night. A disappointed Phyllis says he seems really okay with it and leaves

Phyllis returns and not pleased that the lights are still out. She notes that he doesn't seem to bummed out. She asks what he is doing and Nick is putting a blindfold on. He leads her into a room and music i s playing He turns on the lights and takes off the blindfold. Happy anniversary, they couldn't go to New Mexico to celebrate so he brought it to him. He calls it Nick's roadhouse. Phyllis figures he planned this whole night out. She laughs and says he is good liar. She is stunned as Trace Akins come out. Phyllis is all giddy around him(LOL) and we learn he is a friend of Rocky. He plays that song ""You're Going Miss This" Phyllis love the song and applauds loudly. She wouldn't miss this for the world…

Phyllis tells Trace that he is incredible and she is a huge fan. She thanks the guys for making this the most romantic night of her life. Trace says all he did was sing. Phyllis stresses he sang, Trace calls her a keeper. Nick jokes that he is hoping to get a few good years out of here, they'll see LOL Nick shakes his hand and owe his big time. Trace says he doesn't and is a sucker for romance. Invite him back for their 10th anniversary. Phyllis hugs him and thanks him so much. After they exit, Phyllis asks how did he do this, set this all up. Nick asks because of his accident. Phyllis says yeah, he doesn't remember anything. He is wearing this bowtie. Nick saw this and some flashes that he wore it. Phyllis asks if he is getting his memory back. Nick says bits and pieces. He remember lighting a fire in a bar and dancing with Rocky. Phyllis told him that. He remember something else. Every moment spent with her is a blessing, from their hotel room picnic and video game rivalry. It was moving as Nick said he was falling in love with her, over and over again. There is no one he would rather spend his life with than her. An emotional Phyllis tears up and said that their wedding. Nick says he probably messed up in a few place. Phyllis says he did. This the best present she could have gotten. Nick was sweet as he said his... was her. Very romantic as they kiss, then hug in their western background. Kudos to Nick for giving Phyllis a wonderful anniversary
