I was heartbroken to learn that Colleen was going to be killed during this whole Mary Jane/Patty debacle.

Since her father, Brad's untimely demise, Colleen hasn't had much to do and her portrayer Tammin Sursok, hasn't had much screen time.

I thought it was absolutely brilliant of the show's writers to have Colleen take over her deceased father's seat on the Newman Enterprises board of directors. I SOOO was looking forward to Colleen giving Victor h*ll and mounds of frustration but practically as soon as she had gained the seat, Victor maliciously plotted to disparage Colleen's rep by setting her to do something overly embarrassing (picking up her shirt to reveal her bare breasts in Jimmy’s bar) thus causing her to thrown off the board of directors.

I feel this storyline could have gone MUCH farther and could have brought about some VERY emotional scenes from both Victor and Colleen.with the new addition of Nina and Phillip's now grown son, Chance to Genoa city, maybe Colleen could have been embroiled in a love triangle involving her and Chloe, who has found that she is falling for Chance. That would have interesting, don't you think??

But, alas the writers decided to kill off Colleen and though I HIGHLY disagree with that decision, I will say the way it was carried out was tasteful, poignant and befit the long history of the character.

While, she was drowning, Colleen envisioned everyone in Genoa City that she has cared about: Her mother Traci, stepfather Steve, deceased grandfather John, Uncle Jack, Aunt Ashley, half-uncle & friend Billy, best friend Lily, friend & pseudo half-sister Abby, ex-love JT and even enemy turned close friend Kevin. Having Victor pop in to accuse her of wrongdoing could have been omitted, man even in death Victor can't stop being self-righteous!!

But, the BIG payoff was when Colleen opened her eyes to see her deceased father, Brad with his hand gently taking hers as to signal that Colleen's spirit will go and be protected by her father in death.

I started to REALLY bawl at that moment, especially when Colleen smiled as Brad took her hand, which I believe meant that she was okay with dying since her father was with her.

I haven’t seen today’s eppy but I am absolutely sure that the incredible loss Traci, Jack, Lily, JT, Billy and Kevin will feel upon learning of Colleen's tragic demise will produce some heart-wrenching scenes. Though Lily did receive SOME closure in her dream that had Colleen alive and well telling her (Lily) that she would beat the cancer and WILL have a baby girl. I BAWLED during those scenes too.

In conclusion, I will miss both Colleen Carlton and her portrayer Tammin Sursok on my weekday afternoon television screen. Though according to the Internet Movie Database (IMDb,) she has one movie in post-production, one movie to video in post production and is currently filming a horror film called "Husk,: so it looks like she is going to be busy, which I think is great.

So, R.I.P Colleen Carlton, you will be missed
