Ever since I heard the news that Colleen was going to be killed off, during nearly every episode of Y&R has had me crying almost nonstop.
For Traci to first lose the father of her only child, Brad, this year in a freakish twist if fate AND NOW to lose her only child, Colleen, it yet ANOTHER freakish turn of events, is just TOO horrible to even comprehend!
On top of that tragedy to have Nikki come & practically beg Traci to give Colleen`s heart to Victor when he was the one who put the freakish turn of events whose conswquences caused Colleen to be in situation that killed her is both EXTREMELY ballsy and self-absorbed. There are thousands of people, all over the country, listed on the National Organ Donor Registry, but because he is the high, mighty & powerful Victor Newman, HE should get a heart before some other VERY sick person who has been waiting patiently on the list & is on the verge of death as well??
This angers me a great deal since I have personally known people, youbg people like Colleen, who have been on the list and have died waiting for an organ while superstars and celebrities get moved up to the top of the list merely because of the status
Anyway, I will miss Colleen`s presence on Y&R a great deal. I think SO nuch more could have been done with the character. Her being a worthy rival for Victor because of her position on the Newman Board of Directors coukd have been cultivated more. There are MANY more ways Colleen could havevstayed a viable & interesting character on the show, i just think the writers weenied out by NOT thinking outside the box!
Though the past few eppys have given Beth Maitland (Traci) and Peter Bergman (Jack) some ripe Emmy reel material, it irks me that it had to ccome at the expense of a great & long-standing character!
Does anyone else agree?
Thanks to anyone who replies.
