News for the week of 04-Mar-2013

by Carol Banks Weber

Celebrity stylist George Kotsiopoulos and photographer Chapman Baehler (Rolling Stone) were on hand last week to shoot the updated casts of Prospect Park’s AMC and OLTL. Amongst the casts were actors not previously announced as additions: Saleisha Stowers (Cassandra Foster; America’s Next Top Model; New Girl; The Exes), Eric Nelson (AJ Chandler; ex-Kevin Ross Marler, GL, 2006; iCarly; upcoming movie A Walk Among Tombstones), Denyse Tontz (Miranda Montgomery; Pair Of Kings; Shake It Up), Jordan Lane Price (Celia Fitzgerald), Ryan Bittle (JR Chandler; ex-Logan, 2010; Sweet Valley High; The New Normal; Bones), Heather Roop (Jane McIntyre), and Francesca James (Evelyn Johnson; ex-Kitty/Kelly Tyler).

ET went behind the scenes of this celebrity styled photo shoot, interviewing a lot of the young newcomers and veterans, including Thorsten Kaye (Zach), Jill Larson (Opal), and Cady McClain (Dixie). It was nice to see both sides of the viewer demographic represented and talking to the press about the enormous promise of this online endeavor.

Robert Scott Wilson was the male model in the popular iconic game show, The Price Is Right. Now, he’s going to be a major player on The Online Network’s AMC, quite possibly as the Petey Cortlandt recast. Jill Larson (Opal Cortlandt) tweeted recently about Wilson’s addition as her “son, Petey.” Soap Opera Network’s staff first heard rumblings of Wilson actually going over to OLTL in a new role, before he nabbed this one on AMC.

Daniel Covin (Hunter) joins the online AMC next. He tweeted about it early last week. Covin is a newcomer to soaps and acting. He is the owner of the Fully Faded, a clothes company.

Alfredo Diaz (Under The Harlem Moon, Holy Sapien, One Last Fix) is the actor who landed the coveted role of Vlad, that mysterious European businessman out for blood. It’s recurring and quite possibly inspired by Liam Neeson’s movie, Taken. Vlad will heavily interact with Jesse and Zach as the villain in a sex trafficking story.

And even more! Natasha Tax and Dorell Anthony—from the CP Talent agency, per a February 24th Facebook post from the Paos Revolution.

Susan Lucci (Erica) predictably told the ladies of The View February 25th that she would love to return to AMC for longer, for the Online Network, but she doesn’t know whether she is able now. “I just don't know the answer yet but what I do know is that all of us are working so hard to make that happen. I really want to. My heart is certainly with [AMC creator] Agnes Nixon and it's going to be wonderful. I want you all to watch because it's going to be great.” It really all depends on her busy schedule.

Jennifer Bassey will return as Marian Colby Chandler.
