News for the week of 16-Sep-2013

Prospect Park execs envision October 21st as AMC’s start date for filming the second season. Unfortunately, OLTL’s start date will have to wait until Prospect Park can work out a reasonable deal with ABC in that legal dispute first.
Paula Garces (Lea) is everywhere lately. That’s the result of doing a lot of successful projects in the public eye: her comic book/video game character Aluna, the first Latina superhero, her hot supercouple pairing with Thorsten Kaye (Zach), her history-making turn on Lifetime’s hit new series Devious Maids, her new role filming on location in Toronto for Syfy’s Warehouse13… Add one more project to her full plate: People celebrity blogger. Garces started chronicling her pregnancy (she’s six months along) September 5 by introducing readers to the daughter she had at age 17, 21-year-old Skye, her supportive friend-turned-husband Antonio Hernandez, and the rest of her family. Like a lot of pregnant women, Garces had to deal with dysgeusia in her first trimester, a condition that makes almost everything taste yucky. “It may sound disgusting, but it’s a very common symptom for pregnant women. I literally had to sleep with a spitting bucket next to my bed (I guess I know what a cowboy that chews tobacco feels like).
“It’s not easy spitting and feeling sick around my husband — especially at bedtime. But it comes with the territory of being pregnant. I’ve read that some mothers-to-be don’t experience these symptoms at all … All I have to say is that they are really lucky and should try playing Lotto.”

Just because Prospect Park execs recently announced — to the mainstream not soap press no less — that AMC’s film schedule would restart mid-Oct., but not OLTL’s yet… doesn’t necessarily mean AMC is out of the woods. According to Daytime Dish’s insiders, both soaps failed as pilot experiments. Prospect Park’s merely using the lawsuit as an excuse to stall for time until or if they develop improved models, based possibly on short story arcs found in the highly successful telenovelas and Asian soaps.
