News for the week of 08-Sep-2014

by Carol Banks Weber

In news that surprised only diehard Steve Burton fans and possibly one other soap columnist, Billy Miller (ex-Billy, Y&R) did indeed cross over to take on the recast role of Jason — as rumored about for months.

Supposedly, head writer Ron Carlivati is gung-ho for the show revisiting the Sonny and Carly romance. Remember, it’s his first time, as well as this current Carly’s. Too bad the plot device — Carly running around covering up her infidelity, yet again — has run its course. The only viewers who seem to really care are diehard Carly and S&C fans. Again, can we do more than show up? Let’s have some real acting in some high-stakes stories about real people, instead of posing for the camera to give supercouple fans a momentary thrill.

A certain soap columnist swore up and down the other week that Billy Miller was never coming to GH. ROTFLMAOPMP.

Michelle Stafford (Phyllis Nina) isn’t doing it for me. She takes way too long to get to the point, as she seems to mull over how to phrase the next psychotic threat — or perhaps differentiate herself from her former Y&R baddie character. She’s best when she isn’t thinking too hard about Nina’s next move, and just reacts, as when she’s responding naturally to Roger Howarth’s Franco. Those two are solid gold, real supercouple potential.
