Thanks to social media, Michelle Stafford (Nina; ex-Phyllis, Y&R) scored a gig on a hot new web series for Nickmom.com. She and her real-life daughter Natalia, 5, will appear in four episodes of The Secret Mind Of A Single Mom starting June 15. Stafford’s own web series, The Stafford Project, enabled her to get The Secret Mind/Nickolodeon project as a lead actress, director, and writer. “They saw THE STAFFORD PROJECT and they really liked the self-deprecation aspect of it. They said, ‘Would you create a comedy show for us for single moms? We love how you make fun of yourself and we would love something like that for our channel.’ So I created, along with them, THE SECRET MIND OF A SINGLE MOM, which is just a funny show about the minutiae of being a mom. They are short shows, like two minutes, and I have four of them right out of the gate, so you can easily binge-watch, just like you do ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK or HOUSE OF CARDS, but in a seven-minute time span. They’re all being released on Monday morning on www.nickmom.com. I’m in them with my daughter, Natalia, and I wrote and directed them. Natalia, of course, steals the show, but that's okay — I knew going in that that was going to happen!” –Soap Opera Digest online

Gossip for the week of 15-Jun-2015
It’s summertime, kids. You know what that means: lots of boring filler featuring the younger set and side characters nobody really cares about. Hmm. Perhaps that’s why TPTB deemed it okay to brush off minority characters TJ, Jordan, and Mayor Lomax for this next plot device focused around current events (TJ gets slammed for racist Wyndham pigs just because he’s black). Spoilers don’t favor the TJ story as anything more than another reason to absorb yet another innocent victim into Sonny’s mob. So much for substance.
Also, look for more Denise/Ava and Nina scenery chewing. According to DD’s Trixie (June 12), Ava as Denise will run Julian’s mob and become Sonny’s rival, Rosalie will confess in a few weeks to being another long-lost Cassadine, and Rebecca Budig’s Hayden wakes up eventually. –via SoapZone GH message board RehvengeIsSweet post, June 13, 2015

Brad’s mob-connected, Asian family returns to Port Charles, hungry to take back territory from Sonny.
On Celeb Dirty Laundry last week, Rosalie’s secret took an even deeper turn, encompassing Dr. Liesl Obrecht. What if Dr. O is Rosalie’s mom and she’s a Cassadine? And what if Helena ordered Dr. O long ago to kill Rosalie as a baby but Dr. O refused? “Was it a coincidence that Rosalie is working in the same environment as Victor Cassadine? We cannot put anything past the Cassadines… and if Nina Clay knows the ‘secret’ is it because Rosalie confided in her because they were all in the same facility?” Or, what if Rosalie is Kailey Cassadine — rumored as Stefan and Katherine’s love child?
The best part of this past week involved TJ, Jordan, Dante, and Valerie believe it or not — all characters used to serve plot over substance, if that. With the revelation that TJ was arrested for shoving a security guard, caught on tape/shared online, and accusations of racism, there’s hope that GH will go where no other soap opera has gone before. Tapping into current events of similar incidents is not only relevant, Emmy-worthy, and smart, but infinitely more watchable than the same supercouple posturing and mob glorification viewers have been subjected to for decades. For SoapHub, I wrote a commentary encouraging more of this in an umbrella story, entitled “No Justice, No Peace: TJ Goes There — And #GH Suddenly Has Substance.” Let’s see if TPTB have the stones to drop yet another boring corporate climb to go there with TJ.
