News for the week of 23-Jun-2014

by Carol Banks Weber

Who the hell are these female bloggers? I don’t know but Brittany Furlan, Lauren Elizabeth, Jessica Harlow and Meghan Rosette were the 41st annual Daytime Emmy hosts for the June 22nd, live streaming ceremony. They got to talk to the nominees, presenters, and other stars Sunday, 3 p.m. PST/6 p.m. EST. Their qualifications don’t compare to actual soap bloggers, but whatever.

Nick Chinlund joined GH as Mickey Diamond, Fluke’s spy, while Tony Geary’s on his usual summer vacation.

Check with Michael Fairman Tuesday, 7 p.m. PST/ 10 p.m. EST for Soap Nation Live!, the post-Daytime Emmy show (the ceremonies took place online Sunday).

In Friday’s pre-Daytime Emmy creative arts program, GH casting director Mark Teschner won for his category. Read the rest of the winners at Michael Fairman’s site.

Gossip for the week of 23-Jun-2014

For the first time since covering soaps, I did not watch the Daytime Emmys Sunday. I was too busy cheering my son on in his baseball and soccer tournaments to care, really. And, the fact that the ceremonies were streamed live (aka, too lame for any network to air) didn’t help. I hear the red carpet sucked.

The original Robin and the recast Jason resurface by August.

Is Robin’s Kimberly McCullough already in the studio filming?

Fluke isn’t alone as the boss. He has a co-star in league with him, and he is a she. They go way back. By August, Fluke’s real identity will come out.

Nina and Franco know each other from their New York City days. Nina’s next primary care physician will turn out to be Patrick.

Nathan turns out to be a Cassadine.
