News for the week of 26-Aug-2013
by Carol Banks Weber
As rumored weeks earlier, Kimberly McCullough (Robin) will most definitely be heading back to GH in the fall — on a new contract — to finish out the Scrubs story. Executive producer Frank Valentini just confirmed this as fact to Soap Opera Digest.
There was a reason Kirsten Storms (Maxie), 29, sported the unbecoming dark roots in that dreadful poodle perm. She’s really pregnant, with Brandon Barash’s (ex-Johnny) child. Storms and Barash recently got married in a private ceremony this past June and are expecting their first child, a girl, to arrive in January. Both actress and actor are extremely happy, relieved (she survived endometriosis, where conception is hard enough), and grateful. Storms and Barash discussed growing a family, despite her health challenge, and pursued hormone therapy. Getting their dream wasn’t easy. It required a lot of hospital visits. “It was pretty bleak as far as the probability of her being able to get pregnant … but then we got back from a trip to Amsterdam and discovered we were expecting. We calculated that we conceived the baby in [GH star] Tony Geary‘s guest room!” Storms is safely in her second trimester, which allowed for the publicizing of the pregnancy last week. They didn’t want to jinx the unborn baby’s health by prematurely letting the cat out of the bag. –People August 20, 2013 interview by Monica Rizzo
Brandon Barash (ex-Johnny) gave an August 24th People exclusive on marrying his girlfriend Kirsten Storms (Maxie), in fairy tale style. They married this past June in a small, hush-hush Vegas ceremony at Caesar’s Palace with just their families in attendance. The idea popped into their heads at the same time after Barash spoke with his father who was in Vegas on a World Series of Poker tournament. His father just lost out of the first round, Barash and Storms had just come away from a nice, reassuring doctor’s visit — their first — on the status of their unborn, and were walking home in L.A. when they looked at each other and knew. They promptly arranged with their families to zero in on Caesar’s Palace that weekend for a wedding. Barash proceeded to dispense with the proposal part of their wedding journey with a blue raspberry Ring Pop he’d picked up from a Wrightwood, CA gas station the next morning, and they were on their way.
The Caesar’s Palace coordinator made a special exception for this soap couple, opening up Sunday for them and offering a wide array of wedding options, from chapels and officiants, to music and flowers. Barash filled in the rest: “There were about 10 of us in a chapel that seated 200 comfortably, and it was perfect. All I remember was my face feeling like Niagara Falls, stomping on the glass – the one religious element he chose to include – and Zeppelin's ‘Over the Hills and Far Away’ playing as we walked down the aisle. Perfection.
“After the ceremony, we shared an impeccable meal with our loved ones at Il Mulino, our favorite restaurant, and spent the night playing roulette. Again, we felt the universe on our sides as we hit the numbers of Lil B's due date and our newly established wedding anniversary repeatedly on the roulette table. It was magic, and we wouldn't have had it any other way.
“We kept it under wraps for so long by only telling those close to us. Luckily (almost) everyone stayed tight-lipped – yet another beckoning from fate. As I said before, given all of the possible and spontaneous complications with early pregnancy, we wanted to wait until we were out of the proverbial woods.
“One more thing ... As we were cleaning out our apartment, we found a soap magazine from 2009 with us on the cover and a caption reading, ‘Will Johnny and Maxie sleep together?’ We got a laugh. Johnny and Maxie didn't do the deed, but Brandon and Kirsten picked up where they left off and ... Got. It. Done.”
Kelly Thiebaud (Britt) and Bryan Craig (Morgan) have eyes only for each other, despite playing characters in love with other people. When Comic-Con opened in San Diego earlier this summer, Craig made sure to take his new girlfriend Thiebaud to the festivities. He couldn’t believe she’d never gone before. Once there, they got to see the amazing work Michael Easton (Silas) was doing at his booth, and take plenty of pictures of fans dressed up as their favorite superheroes. “It was really cool to see all the fans and how dedicated they are to the different films, television shows and video games,” Thiebaud said in an August 20th Daytime Confidential interview with Susan Hornik. “That’s what really keeps actors alive and continuing to work. There were so many amazing costumes. I was constantly taking photos and videos of what people were wearing.”
Thiebaud is probably excited as hell to know Kimberly McCullough’s (Robin) joining in on the fun at GH soon. She can’t wait to act off that interesting dynamic, not just for her as an actress but for fans dying to see some resolution to the Scrubs love story. “I don’t know what will happen, but I know it will shake things up incredibly. I feel like the fans really need and deserve this. So in some sort of fashion, I am really looking forward to it. And hopefully my relationship with Nikolas [Tyler Christopher] will grow closer.”
When Craig auditioned for his GH role, he didn’t know much. Having never watched a soap in his life, he quickly found himself trying to catch up to the much faster pace (compared to mainstream shows), smack-dab in the center of a love triangle with Kristen Alderson’s and Chad Duell’s characters. “I jumped on completely blind. Even when I did get the role, I didn’t even know I was working with Kristen. The only two actors I knew I'd be working with were Laura [Wright] and Maurice [Benard], who are phenomenal. Now I really do love working with everyone.” The amount of work on a soap blew this actor’s mind. “I’ve never worked on a television show that moves so fast in my entire life. I am used to shooting an episode a week. We shoot 10 a week and get one take for everything! So I really tip my hat to everyone in the cast.”
The nurse Michael hooked up with this past July will come back soon “for more episodes.” Love her or hate her, Peyton McCormick (Nurse Penny) could throw a wrench in the growing love story of Michael and Kiki. She already has fans ready to build a website for her.
Lindsey Morgan (ex-Kristina) nabbed a recurring part as Raven, the youngest mechanical engineering on Ark searching for her friends, on CW’s The 100. The 100 is a mid-season sci-fi series based on Kass Morgan’s book series about a post-nuclear world.

According to the latest on Daytime Dish, as distributed on Twitter, executive producer Frank Valentini plans on reintroducing old faves — there are a lot of them to orchestrate — by using the old Jack-in-the-Box method, popping them in and out. As opposed to leaving them on the canvas and threading them throughout stories to prevent a choppy effect.
Valentini’s OLTL pets will not go away any time soon. In fact, they’ll play heavily in current and future GH stories, whether fans like it or not.
Minae Noji (ex-Dr. Kelly) is doing a new movie, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, for an August 8, 2014th showing. Noji will play Karai of the Ninjutsu Foot Clan, from the 1992 comic book series. Also starring Megan Fox and Jeremy Howard. –Soap Opera Network, Errol Lewis, August 21, 2013
Connie doesn’t leave this world without a fight. With her last dying breath, she tries to write out the name of her killer — in her own blood — and can only manage, “AJ.” Everyone will take this literally. But maybe AJ is someone’s initials. Ava’s tried to kill before.
Morgan may go from a sweet boy to an abusive, gambling addict. He could take his frustrations out on his newlywed, Kiki, soon. Popcorn.
Jerry Jacks is forcing Robin to help Dr. Obrecht arrive at a cure for his fatal condition. That’s the whole reason for faking Robin’s death and taking her prisoner. The bold move works, because Robin concocts the antidote. Because Jerry wants to be sure Robin isn’t trying to finish him off, he has her administer the antidote first to her dad, Robert. He wakes up and tells Patrick and Anna that Robin’s being held captive by Dr. Obrecht. Faison’s involved too, “and his role in all of this is set to play out.” –GHH Rumorville, August 22, 2013
When Anna wins Patrick full custody of the baby with her damning testimony, that’s when Britt starts singing like a canary.
As insulting as A.J. was drunk, Elizabeth still enables loves the guy—enough to marry him right away so she can’t be compelled to testify what she knows in court. This, after Nikolas rats A.J. out to Anna and Dante about what the alcoholic said to Elizabeth re: killing Connie. Tracy has to go back to A.J. and bring him in with her so that ELQ doesn’t take a hit in the stock market. This is when Ava and Julian Jerome begin their ELQ take-over, making Franco the deciding factor.
It doesn’t look like TPTB will write another pregnancy for Kirsten Storms’ Maxie any time soon. A pregnant IRL Storms tweeted this bit of info last week. So it’ll be hiding behind potted plants for a while. Storms also tweeted that the emotions really flowed around Lindze Letherman (ex-Georgie); it was easy, with that kind of bond.
