News for the week of 30-Mar-2015

Can’t get enough of your favorite GH characters? Their portrayers have been out and about all over this country, meeting fans and interacting off-script. One of the hottest fan events happens for GH Fantasy Weekend, billed as the East Coast’s biggest GH event. Scheduled for April 11 in Levittown, NY’s Governor’s and April 12 at East Hanover, N.J.’s Ramada/Fairbridge Hotel, hosts Tyler Christopher (Nikolas) and Laura Wright (Carly), Ian Buchanan (Duke), Wally Kurth (Ned), Rick Hearst (Ric), Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis), William DeVry (Julian), Kathleen Gati (Dr. Obrecht), Ryan Paevey (Nathan), and Michelle Stafford (Nina) show up for the party. The actual show for both days runs 12:30 p.m.-2:30 p.m. with chances to interact before and after for Platinum and VIP ticketholders. Different actors from the cast will appear, depending on the day.

Winterthorne creator Michael Caruso started filming Sunday and will for an “intense three weeks.” Look for press interviews galore after filming wraps. The new web series stars several daytime actors, including Kirsten Storms (Maxie) and Kathleen Gati (Liesl).

Gaining strength is this rumor about Tony Geary’s (Luke) swan song storyline involving a violent, rapist split personality. Accordingly, once Luke’s story wraps and everyone learns what happened to him growing up, the actor may finally retire for good. Apparently, Genie Francis (ex-Laura) wouldn’t mind returning too, but we all know how TPTB throughout history have treated the other half of that legacy couple.

Star soap columnist Michael Logan reported March 27 on Twitter that Ian Buchanan (Duke) may exit the show. Here’s Logan’s actual tweet: “SO WRONG I’m hearing Ian Buchanan out at #GH in dire plot twist. ABC PR says, ‘No comment.’ Fantastic actor. Legacy character. Poor decision.” There’s a hotline for fans to save Duke: (323) 671-4583.

What’s worse than Duke leaving the show? Duke leaving the show in a bodybag thanks to Anna, the love of his life. That rumor has her defending Jordan from Duke in the most fatal way.

Happy New Years posted a few rumors of her/his own on Daytime Dish (via a March 28th SoapZone/GH post): Head writer Ron Carlivati “has always struggled writing the teen set. After they scrapped yet another big teen story and new hires last year, they put Molly and TJ … in a holding pattern, and hired an outside consultant. [Nicolas J. Bechtel/Spencer] and [Brooklyn Rae Silzer/Emma] are considered very talented and successful anchors for their child set. In contrast, RC has twice failed to build a ‘teen set’ using [Tequan Richmond/TJ] and [Haley Pullos/Molly] as anchors. TR is considered very talented but poorly used and HP has not yet hit her stride. … The initial Michael/Kiki/Morgan triangle also failed which is why RC pivoted to Morgan/Sonny/Michael family conflicts instead. Michael versus Sonny scored well for them, or so I was told.” … “As I mentioned months ago, [Michael Easton/Silas] took an extended vacation so they had to write around him. By the way, I heard [Roger Howarth] wants extended time off this summer. These longer vacations are a negotiation trade off. Accept cut in guarantees in return for blocked time off.”
