News for the week of 04-Mar-2013
by Carol Banks Weber
On March 2, 4:46 p.m., Soap Opera Network’s Errol Lewis reported that the new, online OLTL will shoot a week later than scheduled, according to Robin Strasser’s fan hotline, (212) 414-5300. This means the Prospect Park reboot films March 18, not March 11. This won’t change Roger Howarth’s (Todd) scheduled return. He’s still set for filming four weeks’ worth of OLTL before coming back to Carly on GH.
On the heels of this info from Robin Strasser’s hotline comes word — as of March 3, 12:20 a.m. — that there is no delay in production after all. Soap Opera Network’s Errol Lewis just reported that production is going according to schedule. This is based on a Prospect Park insider in the senior level position. “This has been long planned to make way for a piece of the storyline that involves new sets and use of certain characters and not others.” The new sets and certain characters do involve Roger Howarth’s Todd, however. The actor is expected to start shooting March 18.
Erika Slezak (Viki) shed a little more light on Roger Howarth’s return as her on-screen brother Todd Manning in a recent Soap Opera Digest update. She said, as far as she knew, Howarth starts filming the online OLTL the second week of production and when he’s done, will go back to filming on GH. However, she added that because of the agreement between ABC and Prospect Park, Howarth cannot air on both OLTL and GH at the same time, so scheduling that will be challenging.
Celebrity stylist George Kotsiopoulos co-hosts E!’s Fashion Police and called it on the designer gown Oscar-winning actress Jennifer Lawrence (Silver Linings) chose to wear on the Red Carpet. Celebrity photographer Chapman Baehler gained world-wide fame for capturing the essence of the rock bands Social Distortion and Stone Temple Pilots before making a regular name for himself in Rolling Stone magazine. Both titans of fashion and art were on hand February 27 at the New York Sleepy Hollow Country Club for the premiere shoot of the new OLTL/AMC casts. An ET crew was on hand to capture that historic moment and get behind-the-scenes interviews with some of the cast members, newcomers and veterans.
During OLTL/AMC’s premiere shoot, most of the final online cast was revealed. For example, Robert Gorrie (ex-Nate, ATWT; The Good Wife; Law & Order: Special Victims Unit) will take over as the recast Matthew Buchanan. A lot of the rest of the actors on hand were returnees, including Hillary B. Smith (Nora), Kelley Missal (Dani), Josh Kelly (Cutter), Andrew Trischitta (Jack), recurring Sean Ringgold (Shaun), Shenaz Treasury (Rama), and Nick Choksi (Vimal). Erika Slezak (Viki) and Kassie DePaiva (Blair) were thrilled, surprised, and grateful for the chance to do this again, and do it right. Tuc Watkins (David) joked that, at the time of OLTL’s 2011 cancellation from ABC Daytime programming, he told everyone who kept asking that the soap would never come back. He said he was so happy to be wrong.
Brittany Underwood (ex-Langston; ex-Loren, Hollywood Heights) collaborated with director Y&R’s Robert Adamson (Noah; ex-Phil, Hollywood Heights) on a new music video, “Flow.” She co-wrote the light, lively pop song with Matthew Gerrard (“Breakaway” by Kelly Clarkson) about letting stress go. Underwood’s OLTL BFF, Kristen Alderson (Starr), Chad Duell (Michael, GH), and Ashley Holliday (Melissa, Hollywood Heights) appear in the music video.

Michael Easton (John McBain) recently Facebooked a photo of himself and his little girl taking a walk through a sunny park, with a caption thanking fans for their support, indicating that he’s not sure when he’ll return to GH: “No word yet on when we might return to work but the fridge is stocked, the bills are paid, and I get to spend lots of precious time with my little girl.”
