News for the week of 14-Apr-2008
by Carol Banks Weber
It’s official: By June, Andrea Evans will reprise the role of Tina Lord Roberts, which she regretfully left in 1990. Tina returns with a huge mystery and maybe the comeback of another favorite. She will be closely aligned with an existing character on the canvas. The role is said to be short-term for summer.
Kassie (Blair) and James (ex-Max) Depaiva are set to host Clarke School-New York’s 2nd Annual Picture the Possibilities Spring Benefit May 20, 6 p.m.-8 p.m. The benefit will help raise funds for programs and services to assist deaf and hard of hearing children and their families. Michael Easton (John), John Kenny, Rob Santeramo and Bob Bessoir have all agreed to exhibit some of their photographs for the benefit event at the Danese Gallery on 535 West 24th Street, 6th Floor, New York City. A silent auction, too. Entrance prices range from $5,000 for eight, to $500 for two or $150 per person. Info: Christina Sanborn at (212) 988-8304 or csanborn@clarke-nyc.org
John Brotherton (Jared) loves him the stylish threads, so completely the opposite of his character’s buttoned-up, three-piece business suits. His fashion fascination goes back to high school, where classmates deemed him “Prince of Style” at the senior-year dance. Brotherton described himself as someone who made sure his threads were not only stylin’ but matchin’. As a grown-up, Brotherton still likes to look good by mixing and matching different styles, from conservative with funky, pairing up a coat jacket with a t-shirt, spotting the coolest thrift spots (he found a cool one in L.A.’s Jet Rag for example), racking up his favorite Lucky Brand jeans. His hair is another matter altogether, too thick, unruly. To change the pace a bit, if he can’t do a thing with his hair and he’s sported the same hairstyle for awhile, he’ll just put a cap or hat on. To deal with the unruly, thick hair, though, Brotherton does have a TIGI Bed Head Stick that works.
Kristen Alderson (Starr)—who celebrated a fete for her 10-year OLTL character recently—remembered keeping the script of her first kiss with Connor Paolo (ex-Travis). It’s a page from the 2004 script, and it was circled and highlighted by Alderson, which Paolo kidded around with her about as meaning a whole lot. But she’s kept many other scripts too. And she also used to make notes all over the place of her character’s motivations related to her new love. Kassie DePaiva (Blair) treasured a script for its countrified dry blocking. DePaiva and Trevor St. John (Todd) used redneck accents up until the actual shoot. They want very much to recreate the redneck rehearsal for an upcoming summer fan club luncheon, and then air the scene that made it to the TV.
Wife and actress Sherri Saum (ex-Keri) threw husband Kamar de los Reyes (Antonio) a surprise 40th birthday party recently, causing him to nearly vomit with overwhelming emotion. He so didn’t expect a surprise party that he said he really did start feeling sick to his stomach, in a good way. (I can attest to these weird feelings when friends of mine threw me one last November.) But that wasn’t all. Saum then gifted him with a trip to San Francisco right after.
During a wardrobe fitting for the Go Red Ball scenes, Farah Fath (Gigi) nearly wore the same red dress her DOOL character Mimi had in 2004 for Philip and Belle’s nuptials. She wasn’t allowed to wear the same red dress, however. The next choice showed off her considerable assets, her considerable bosom. She caught a lot of people at the studio gawking at her cleavage apologetically, until she finally said, “You know what? I can’t stop lookin’ at ‘em either, so go ahead [laughs].” –Soap Opera Digest, April 15, 2008

Maybe outgoing: David Chisum (Miles) and Tobias Truvillion (Vincent). Since there will be more, may I suggest Sarah, Cristian, Jessica, Nash?
Sarah’s so bad, I almost wish for “Flash” back.
Susan Haskell (ex-Marty) could be talked into returning. Or, maybe it’s already in the works for later. Christina Chambers (ex-recast Marty) may head to DOOL to work under former head-writing boss Dena Higley in a different role.
An OLTL poster mentioned on the boards the other week that perhaps John and Talia are intentionally putting out an affair vibe, but it’s all part of the plan to indict Ramsey. Seeing as Natalie begins thinking this way too, I’d say the theory has legs.
