News for the week of 22-Jun-2009
by Carol Banks Weber
Fans in Canada can still watch OLTL, as of this coming September, on the Sun TV network. OLTL's 2 p.m. slot remains. The other week, it was reported that Canada's other TV network cancelled OLTL.
Trevor St. John (Todd) has high praise for both his leading ladies, Susan Haskell (Marty) and Florencia Lozano (Tea), for their unique, gutsy and committed acting approaches. Haskell jumps into any storyline full throttle, which he enjoys. Lozano's more like him, in that she's always up for a spontaneous, collaborative jam session using their storyline material. As for the Daytime Emmys, that's not what St. John's about. He thinks it's more important to do good, creative, original work, which soaps provide.
One time, Brandon Buddy (Cole) got so into his intense, drug-addicted, angry character, he managed to scare his co-star/friend Kristen Alderson (Starr) to death. She wouldn't even go near him after filming. He's become acutely aware of this now, trying to maintain who he really is separate from his characters drama.
Sudbury, MA native Scott Evans (Officer Oliver Fish), 25, is there to bring story to life – whether as a gay or straight character. Doesn't matter to him. Unlike a controversial Y&R actor asked to play a suddenly gay storyline, Evans – recently put in the same position – took his plot turn in stride. He makes no bones about being gay himself. It's simply not an issue with him. Just as he doesn't mind playing gay, he doesn't mind playing straight either. He's been playing straight on OLTL for a while. "As long as I keep telling Oliver's story and his adventures, that's my job and that's all I need to do." -AfterElton.com by Michael Jensen, editor, June 15, 2009
Amanda Setton goes from Gossip Girl to OLTL, as Stacy's gal pal, starting August. Setton was also in Sex And The City, All The World's A Stage and What Happens In Vegas.

I'm in New York City for about a month on summer vacation, and while I was THISCLOSE to Steve Carell filming his next movie, Date Night, co-starring Tina Fey, off Times Square, I have yet to spot an OLTLer strolling by. But I will, when I plant myself in front of their studio in the next few days.
