News for the week of 29-Sep-2008

by Carol Banks Weber

When Andrea Evans (Tina) finally returned to the soap that made her a star this past summer, fans were disappointed to see her interacting with a newbie Sarah, and non-family Cristian, Talia and Antonio. They wanted her to catch up with her older half-sister Viki, for starters. But because of the tricky challenge of bringing Evans back in time for the 40th anniversary episodes coinciding with Erika Slezak’s (Viki) impending vacation, Mendorra was the best head writer Ron Carlivati could do. Evans said he did the best he could to arrange for an on-screen Tina and Viki encounter during that challenging time. She added that Tina and Viki will share more meaningful on-screen moments, as well as Tina finding new love. Check out her in-depth interview with Michael Fairman, which I read on September 24, 2008. There’s more about her connection with Slezak, her impressed impressions of Bree Williamson (Jessica/Tess), and her work for City of Hope’s Walk for Hope to Cure Breast Cancer (her mom survived breast cancer).

John-Paul Lavoisier (Rex) has to maintain those blond locks—from a bottle—despite wanting to slack off sometimes, like he did a couple years ago. Boss man Frank Valentini, executive producer, noticed and put Lavoisier back on the blonde patrol, pronto. May I suggest Lavoisier also color his eyebrows blonder too? It’s too much of a stark contrast otherwise. Same with Bree Williamson (Tess/Jess).

Gossip for the week of 29-Sep-2008

Bo gives up any hope of a happily-ever-after with Lindsay. But he may arouse ire in Clint by checking out Dallas. If there isn’t any chemistry there (the portrayers are real-life husband and wife), Dallas will buy the farm.

The stupid story about stupid Tess keeping Natalie in a luxurious holding cell beneath Llanfair? Over, the second Jared resists Tess’s dubious charms, and she throws him in there with Nat. Nat may pretend to be real sick, and flee the confines with her boyfriend.

Viki resurfaces from her whirlwind tour October 13th, only to find Jessica has disappeared once again, bringing Tess forth. So Viki fakes her own DID return as Niki to obtain the truth from Tina and draw Tess out as a faker.

Supposedly Trevor St. John (Todd) and Susan Haskell (Marty) shot pivotal, upcoming scenes on a closed set, which could translate to a murder mystery, or the evolution of a sick and twisted relationship. Either Marty figures out Todd’s her rapist and kills him in a victimized rage on the spot, or she remains clueless and the two of them make love then tie the knot. If it’s the former, Blair and John could stumble upon a dazed and confused Marty refusing to let go of Starr’s baby.

About Starr’s baby… Everybody except Blair accepts the ob-gyn’s DOA. She’s been through this before with her own baby (Jack), when Todd lied to her about it dying during childbirth. She forces the ob-gyn at gunpoint to come out with the truth, after Dr. Joplin forbids Starr from saying goodbye to her baby.

Some readers prayed to God that a rumor going around about a well-known vet making her way back out the door didn’t apply to Andrea Evans (Tina). After reading about her last week, I don’t think it’s her either. Sounds like she has tons of new story coming up, as well as a new boy toy to play with (Bo? Charlie?).
