News for the week of 09-Nov-2015
It’s been about two years since Jeanne Cooper (Katherine) passed away. But nobody’s forgotten her over at Y&R. In fact, one of her closest co-stars still talks to Cooper regularly when she heads over to the studio to work. Kate Linder (Esther) talks to the plaque on Cooper’s door. “We talk about her all the time when we’re taping. We actually have this life-size cut-out poster of her in the makeup room, so it’s like she’s there! And you can feel her presence all the time. Or at least I do. I will go by her dressing room, where there’s a plaque on the door, and I’ll look at it, and go, ‘Hi, Jeanne. Good night, Jeanne!’ It’s hard, but I’m just so grateful and honored that I was able to work with her. I thought of her when I had my final scenes at the mansion and talked to [Katherine’s] picture, saying, ‘Don’t worry, I’m gonna make you proud of me.’ When I said it, I got choked up. I could feel Jeanne. I could hear her say, ‘Hey, you do that. You make me proud of you!’” –ABC Soaps In Depth, October 26, 2015
