News for the week of 10-Sep-2012

by Carol Banks Weber

Michael Muhney (Adam) was one of the first cast members to offer support and hope for the new, incoming regime of executive producer Jill Farren Phelps and head writer Josh Griffith. Last week, he tweeted that Y&R is gonna be less about plot and more character-driven. Here are his other tweets, as reposted by Soap Opera Digest online (fyi: the actor’s tweets are protected because of trolls like me): “First airdate under new management: Oct 12th. There is a cohesiveness in the overall story telling. Things seem less disjointed. You can feel momentum build from page 1 to 60…. It seems as though the show is on track. It feels like a strong ensemble. I feel like it is classic old show mixed with classy new energy. This show will be a beacon for CBS.” Watch for Griffith/JFP’s stories to commence October 12.

Ever wonder if the ladies of Y&R and B&B look as hot without make-up? Wonder no more. Michelle Stafford (Phyllis), Melody Thomas Scott (Nikki), and Katherine Kelly Lang (Brooke, B&B) will appear on CBS’s The Talk to take it all off; make-up, that is, in the talk show’s season three premiere, September 10, 2 p.m. ET. They won’t be the only ones on the talk show without make-up; everyone’s going natural, from the co-hosts to the other guests.

Blake Hood (Kyle) will make a guest appearance on CW’s hit series, The Vampire Diaries, in episode five as one of Klaus’ minions, Dean. The Vampire Diaries kicks off its new season October 11, 8/7c.

Kevin Schmidt (Noah) was reportedly given the heave-ho. Recast number 50,000,000 appears in the form of Robert Adamson, starting October 1.

With the firing of Kevin Schmidt (Noah) and the recasting of a new edition, Robert Adamson, comes word from SoapTown USA’s Loose Lips last week that TPTB prefer to “drop the gay storyline. But now that we have a new Noah what is in store for this character? Does this mean he will finally get a real storyline? You can bet on it since this is the new EP JFP's first major hire. Adamson worked for Phelps on the youth soap Hollywood Heights.” Also, the ruthless Adam makes a comeback in the boardroom, according to Loose Lips, and none too soon.
