News for the week of 17-Feb-2014

Y&R PTB stumped viewers, the cast, and more than a few soap critics by whipping out Camryn Grimes as a Cassie lookalike hired by Victor to gaslight Sharon. In Michael Logan’s February 14th TV Guide interview, Grimes admitted she was surprised by the twist. She assumed she was playing Cassie’s long-lost twin, “— all the obvious soap stuff. But what the writers came up with is so much fun and so unexpected. I love it! And I'm really excited to be working with Eric Braeden. This new character has so much potential to go all over the place. I'm looking forward to the reaction from the audience as it all unfolds.”

Michael Graziadei (ex-Daniel) hit the LOTTO for actors. His pilot, The Lottery, will air on Lifetime as a series later this year, all 10 episodes. He portrays an alcoholic who has to deal with one of the last children he helped bring into a Dystopian world without viably pregnant women.

Cynthia Watros (Kelly) has been killing it on Y&R, picking up where Michelle Stafford (ex-Phyllis) left off in terms of dynamic, quixotic acting chops. But with her MTV pilot Finding Carter seeing the light of day, maybe Watros needs a little help filling in on the soap. The casting department is trying actresses out for the “Molly” role, which could be code for temporary Kelly.
