News for the week of 19-Nov-2012

Kristoff St. John (Neil) recently got back in touch with his mom, 74, in South Carolina, after a 20-plus absence not of his own choosing. Unfortunately, he learned that she was suffering from cancer. The actor gave the WLTX news crew his back story, suitable for its own soap opera. His parents had divorced when he was only four. He never saw his biological mom again “until I was in my early 20s. Then I lost touch with her for the next 20 years. I'm so happy to have a relationship with her again and thinking about coming to the beautiful state of South Carolina to visit her later this year.” St. John plans to stay by her side. “We're rallying around her. I didn't expect for her to be in the shape she's in but hopefully with the help of doctors...we'll be able to get her through this period.” –WLTX news
Jessica Collins (Avery) has also wondered where her character lived “for the longest time.” Once the new regime arrived, they made sure Avery had an urban, eclectic-feeling loft, said Production Designer Bill Hultstrom, “where we saw that Avery multi-tasked. On the one hand she was precise in everything she does, but she does many things almost simultaneously.” The actress wanted to add her real-life culinary skills to her character’s, which made Hultstrom and his crew do “handsprings.” This really fleshed out the kind of character Avery is. Collins joked that Avery does two things in her loft: cook and fantasize, two activities usually involving Nick. Watch the on-location, backstage interviews here.
