News for the week of 24-Sep-2012

Y&R celebrates its 10,000th episode September 27th when Victor shows himself very much alive back in Genoa City, just as Sharon and Tucker get ready to marry and Nikki feels at her lowest. The story unfolds in a flourish at Victor’s memorial service. In March of next year, Y&R promises a spectacular celebration for its 40th anniversary.

Eric Braeden (Victor) and Sony managed to find enough common ground in contract negotiations to enable the veteran actor to renew for presumably many years. Of the re-signing, Braeden issued this statement via Entertainment Weekly: “Very glad we got the negotiations successfully behind us.”

Live tweet with Melody Thomas Scott (Nikki) and Daniel Goddard (Cane) September 27 while Y&R airs its 10,000th episode, ET.

Jess Walton (Jill) returns to Y&R starting October 5 for a “great story,” the actress said in a recent Nelson Branco/Soap Opera Uncensored interview. The great story arc is expected to play out for four-six weeks.

In celebration of Y&R’s 10,000th episode, the popular Joshua Morrow (Nick) and Sharon Case (Sharon) will make a special guest appearance on CBS’s The Talk September 26.

Melissa Claire Egan (Chelsea) guest-stars on the medical procedural hit series Bones September 24.

Easy come, easy go, Lindsay Bushman (Summer). She joins the growing caravan of axed cast members, tweeting this last week, “Ahhh! #YR is being invaded by #HollywoodHeights and has replaced yet another actress on YR. Guess who?! Me. Haha well onward and upward ^”

Another FOJ will take over Lindsay Bushman’s role of Summer. This one is the second actor from executive producer Jill Farren Phelps’ Hollywood Heights show: Hunter Haley King (who played Adriana).

Expect one more (at least) major cast cut. If that’s alright with Eric Braeden (Victor), who is rumored to be really taking the loss of his friend MAB badly… to the point where others were worrying whether he would still play ball.

While new executive producer Jill Farren Phelps is only too happy to bring FOJs (namely from her last TV project, Hollywood Heights) onto the cast, she’s still – bottom line – just following orders, from on high (aka Sony honcho Steve Kent could be calling all the shots).
