One Life to Live Update for Monday, 1-Aug-2005

Nash tells Tess she must tell him who this mysterious guy was whom she did not want to see (meaning Todd). Is that her boyfriend or husband, ex or present? She tells him no way. Todd is just somebody who wants to take away everything she has. He asks her what her “secret” is with this Todd guy. She refuses to answer. He tells her she does not have to answer. She can just leave. He is just setting her free. He reminds her that she’s stayed in his apartment for a while now and has not told him a thing. He asks her why she uses sex to get what she wants. She tells him there are certain things that he cannot tell her. He then tells her she must go and not come back. She doesn’t believe he is serious. But he assures her he is. If she stays, she must talk. Otherwise he will not hesitate to have her out on her butt. He informs her that he punched Todd in an attempt to “protect” her. Hearing the way he’s talking, she smiles and tells him they really do have a relationship and this is their first fight.

Todd calls Blair from the police station. She asks how the big apple is and if he’s found Jessica. He doesn’t want to tell her what happened. HE does, however, ask her to come right away and bring $2000 cash. Otherwise, he will spend the night in jail.

Margaret enters Asa’s home. She’s pregnant with Todd’s child. He reminds her that he’s told her never to come to his home. She reminds him that she and her baby want to visit him. He angrily tells her if she wants what he’s promised her, he better do what she says. OR else all bets are off. She tells him that he must remember that nobody owns her. Not even the great and powerful Asa Buchanan. He reveals that he owns the cottage where she is staying. He owns her freedom and she must play by his rules. He tells her that Blair really saw her although he did not reveal to her that she was really there. He had to do some fancy footwork to make Blair believe she was imagining things. Margaret tells him that Todd Jr. wants to see his daddy. She still seems to be obsessed about Todd. But Asa tells her that he did not rescue her from the border patrol in order for her to ruin his plan. She asks what his plan is. He tells her none of her damn business. He tells her it does not include Blair or Todd knowing she is in town. He tells her that if she and her love child want to get to Todd, they must be on the same page with him or else it’s her tail in a sling. He asks if she gets that.

At the NY police station, Todd asks the arresting officer if he really wants to pursue this public nuisance charge. Won’t it be a waste of time? The cop tells him he’s upgraded it to disorderly conduct and he can get him thrown in jail.

Nash, then concludes that he does not wish to force Tess to tell him about Todd if she does not want to. He was just concerned about her. She tells him that Todd just wants to take her back to her “old place” kicking and screaming. And she does not want to go back. She likes where she is now.

Blair arrives at the NYPD and asks Todd what happened. How did he get arrested? The cop tells her it happens all the time with “repeat offenders”

At Asa’s, Margaret lies on his couch and tells him she needs a glass of water. He reminds her that she works for him and she needs him. She tells him that he needs her. He then calls for a car to take her to the airport. She tells him she refuses to leave. He tells her she’s too high maintenance. She asks where he is sending her. He tells her Canada, Mexico, or any other place that will take a crazy nut case like her. He demands that she gets out of his house.

Alone with Todd, Blair tells him she doesn’t care what happened or how he may have gotten himself in trouble. All she wants is for him to be ok. He and the kids are all that matter to her. She then is about to tell him what she saw the previous day ( She saw Margaret)

Right then, Margaret tells Asa that he cannot throw a pregnant woman out of his home. He asks her what she plans to do in order to stop him. She tells him he must know what she did not Blair and Todd and just think of what she can do to him.

At the crime scene, John asks Hayes Barber if he really wants to make a deal. Hayes tells John if he really wants to see Natalie, he must cut him some slack. He will have to choose between his “good cop” reputation and his woman.

Viki goes to see Rex in the hospital. He tells her that he’s not ok until he knows that Natalie is ok. She tells him she just wants to make certain that he is ok.

Evangeline comes to see Marcie in her hospital room. Marcie assures her that John saved hers’ and Rex’s lives and tells Evangeline that John is pretty incredible. Evangeline says she knows and asks where John is right now. Marcie tells Evangeline that she and Rex are lucky but she’s afraid Natalie might not be. It’s entirely possible that Hayes will never tell John where Natalie is.

John is right then, cornering Hayes, telling him he either tells him where Natalie is or he dies. John seems to remember Ivan Potter and asks if Ivan wants a piece of him. Does he need to go through Natalie or Evangeline in order to get to John? He almost strangles Hayes (Ivan) and he falls to the floor. Right then, the other cops enter and asks what is going on. John tells them that he killed Hayes.

Viki urges Rex to know that she cares about him. But he tells her she must not get worried about him. Michael comes to see Rex but is surprised to notice Viki in his hospital room. She tells him she knows that doctors don’t want her up and about. Michael tells Viki that being in a hospital may not be great for her immune system either. He tells her that she better sneak out of there. Viki agrees to leave but tells Rex he must always remember how much Natalie loves him and be assured that there is no way that she is gone. She leaves and Michael asks Rex how he’s doing. Rex tells Michael the only thing that will make him feel better is to know that that bastard Hayes tells John where Natalie is.

Right then, the cop who is assisting John tells him that Hayes is dead and cannot help them find Natalie. But then, John notices Hayes awake and coughing and he asks the cops to book him. The cop takes Hayes away and John screams at Natalie. He asks her where she is.

Nash informs Tess that he not only punched Todd out, he got him falsely accused him of stealing a lady’s purse. The cops bought that and busted Todd. Hearing that, Tess seems elated, puts her arms around Ness and tells him he’s a genius.

Blair tells Todd that she thought she saw Margaret in a cab when she was shopping with Starr. At first he thought she was really there. Then believed she was just imagining it. Then she went to see Asa to put the heat on him to find Margaret. Todd suggests that maybe Asa is just yanking her chain about finding Margaret. He asks Blair if she really believes Asa’s word that he will get Margaret for them.

Asa tells Margaret that Blair Kramer and Todd Manning are nothing more than bugs he can crush underneath his shoe. He could get them with much less effort than she can. And he’s not intimidated by her. But she tells him he does not get to call all the shots. She says she knows he’s just as desperate as she is. Otherwise he would not have gone into business with her. He tells her that he does not have a baby to lose. Hearing that, she tells him he would not dare. He tells her he would so she’d better not push it.

At Viki’s, John enters. She asks him if he’s found Natalie. He admits he has not. She sees, by his hopeless expression, that he doesn’t think he ever will.

Nash agrees to let Tess stay. Neither wants the other to sleep on the floor.

After Asa tells Margaret that he will let her and the "baby" stay with him, she hugs him. He doesn't seem to like her though nor want her in his home.

Blair tells Todd that Asa has incentive to get Margaret because if he does not, he goes to jail. Right then, the cop informs Todd that the matre D decided not to press charges against him. So he's free to go. He does make a comment about Todd being a rapist. Hearing that, Blair defends him, telling him that Todd served his time and doesn't need to be reminded of that.

At the hospital, Michael assures Evanteline that it won't be long before Barber is behind bars where he won't be able to hurt anybody else. She says she hopes so. Rex then goes into Marcie's room to talk to her.

John admits to Viki that Barber is in custody but refuses to talk about Natalie or anything else. He tells her he tried everything and almost kiled him but nothing worked. He tells her that Hayes wanted to make a deal where he'd tell John where Natalie was if he could walk. But he could not do it. Knowing that Hayes is a threat to many more people than just Natalie if he is free, Viki tells John she knows he had no choice but to decline Hayes' "deal".
