Tess is having a dream that Jessica is calling her. She comes face to face with Jessica who cries and tells her that she is ruining her. Antonio appears and Jessica tells him that Tess is ruining “them”. And Tess then turns to Nash. She then awakens and Nash asks her about her “nightmare”. She makes up a story about being attacked by pandas.

While with Antonio during his search for Jessica. Layla starts getting curious about Antonio’s “secret girlfriend”. She tells him she’s heard all about this Jessica. But she’s never seen or heard her and neither has he. He tells her she needs to stay out of his business and she does not understand. She tells him that from observing his drastic efforts to find her with paying the PI, she wonders if he’s getting “taken” by the PI or “taken” by Jessica. He tells her if she ever cared for another person the way he does for Jessica, she might understand. But it’s probably a foreign concept for her since all she cares about is herself. She asks him how long he plans on waiting for his “lady fair”. She’s got him sniffing all over NYC. And has it ever occurred to him that the woman doesn’t want him. He tells her she doesn’t know anyting about love. She’s just a kid who gets engrossed in movies. She tells him it’s a very simple concept about boy meeting girl and having girl dump his sorry butt.

Michael goes to see John when he’s sleeping off a hangover. He offers him some water. He tells John that he may screw up his own life if he wants. But there are other people out there who count upon him.

Right then, we see Natalie imprisoned in some place unable to get out.

While waiting outside of the courtroom for Barber’s hearing, Bo talks to Evangeline about what they are dealing with. Right then, Marcie and Rex enter. They greet Marcie. Rex tells them that they should acknowledge him also. Hugh Hughes then enters with Nora. Roxie then appears and tells them that creep better tell her where he’s hidden her daughter.

Natalie is trapped and struggling to get herself free.

Nash shows Tess his laptop where there are red arrows to reveal that his profits are going down. He tells her he does not worry because you win some, you lose some. She tells him she is applying for an entry-level position but believes she can get promoted fast. He tells her that he knows she can climb the corporate ladder.

Michael asks John if he does not see it as a little messed up that Bo had to force him to take a day off. And all John can do is spend it getting ploughed. He tells him he has his ways of checking up on his big brother. He tells John he knows that he has some major things going on in his life. It might be Natalie. It might be Evangeline. It might be their father. It’s something that he knows John feels he is responsible for. And John needs to know that this is going to break him. He tells John that Evangeline’s dumping him is the best thing she ever did because he is damaged goods. John tells Michael he would like him to get out and not come back until Christmas.

Roxie tells Rex that she cannot bear that thought of that sicko being able to walk when Natalie has not even been found. She doesn’t know that he will even come through on his end of the bargain or that they will ever see Natalie again. Bo tells her they are doing everything they can. He explains to her that Hayes Barber likes a “show”. Rex tells his mother that there have gotta be ways to get Hayes to think he can “win” if he tells them where she is. Right then, Hayes Barber appears in his jail uniform. And Roxie freaks and is ready to attack him while Bo and Rex restrain her. Hayes’ lawyer appears. Bo and Hughes tell Roxie she needs to remain calm. Rex tells her that the commish has had him on a short leash and admits that Bo knows what he is doing. Marcie and Evangeline observe Hayes. Marcie is amazed at how smug Hayes looks after all he has done and she cannot believe that she never recognized him. Evangeline tells Marcie that Hayes had major reconstructive surgery and changed everything and anybody could be fooled.

At John’s apartment, Michael asks his brother why he is not at the arraignment hearing. John tells Michael that he was told they did not need him. Michael asks John what he is hiding from. He must know that he can get the goods on Hayes. John tells his brother that he knows that Hayes’ lawyers want to declare a mistrial. Michael tells John he wishes he would talk to him and needs him to say why he cannot face Barber. John says he’s afraid he will kill him.

Antonio tells Layla she never met Jessica. She tells him she knows he’s really delusional to be so hung up on her. He tells her maybe she should have slept with that sleezy producer. He then apologizes and tells her that was a cheap shot. She then admits that she should be easy on Jessica because she knows she’s never met her and is certain that she is “lovely”. Right then, a man enters and Antonio asks if he’s seen this woman and shows him a picture of Jessica.

Tess is on the phone to somebody who knows her as Jessica Buchanan, explaining that although Jessica is her legal name, she goes by the name of Tess. Right then, Nash gets out of the shower and asks her why she never admitted to him that her real name is Jessica. She attempts to distract him by coming onto him. He asks why she had to apply for a job by using her “dead twin sister”s name. He tells her he realizes he does not know what it’s like to have a twin, much less what it’s like to lose them. She tells him he’s asking too many questions. He then tells her he will take and accept what she’s told him and hope that some day he does not wake up dead or realizing she was just a dream for him. He then sarcastically tells her he will continue to knock out guys in restaurants for her and call her Jess or Tess or whatever she wants and not ask any questions about where she comes from, what she does, where she gets her moeny, while she comes and goes in and out of his home as she pleases. She tells him that she has spent an entire lifetime struggling to be free and have her own identity. I guess RIGHT THERE, she is REVEALING the mysterious TRAUMA that Jessica had that she's apparently BLOCKED OUT and which has caused TESS to come out in the first place. He tells her he does not know what she is talking about. She asks him why he has to question it. Why can’t he just love her for who she is?

Antonio asks the guy at the restaurant, some questions about Todd. They guy tells him he knows that Todd went to jail but the charges were dropped. Antonio then gets a call and reveals that a PI got a hit on Jessica’s social security number when she apparently applied for a job. I GUESS that’s after Tess applied for the job just today. Layla admits she is impressed by Antonio’s police work.

Michael reminds John that there’s no way that Hayes Barber’s corpse can tell them where Natalie is. John says he knows and that was the one thing that stopped him from killing him. He also admits to Michael that during his drinking binge, he went to see Evangeline. Michael tells John that it’s pathetic for him to be calling or visiting his ex and he knows it did not work out the way he’d planned. That’s why he found John passed out at his home. He tells John he hopes he did not “beg”. Because if he did, he needs to find another hero. John tells Michael that Evangeline deserves better than him. Michael tells John he will be in court for Marcie today. And John must know that Hayes Barber does not have any power he does not choose to give him. SO he suggests that John goes with him to court and face Barber.

Right then, the court hearing starts. The judge enters. Hugh asks if it pleased the court, the prosecution would like to make an “unorthodox request” because they believe a woman’s life depends upon it.

Right then, Natalie is attempting to climb out of her captivity. But she falls.

After putting her foot in her mouth with the word “love”, Tess tells Nash he need not freak out. He tells her he can tell she’s never been in a relationship nor been in love. She tells him she doesn’t understand why people are so hung up on love and relationships. ANd again, he admits that he likes her and wants her with him. She asks if it cannot be enough for him to just have her there. HE confirms that he just wants her to be who she is. I’ll bet that will mean a lot for Tess.

Hugh explains to the judge that a victim is missing. The judge then asks Hayes to stand and asks him how to plead for the kidnapping of Rex Balsom and Marcie Walsh. Hayes’ lawyer replies that his client pleads not guilty by reason of insanity. Hugh, then informs the judge that the kidnapping is only a small part of the charges against Hayes. He has murdered several people and has a long list against him. Roxie then asks to speak. She tells the judge that her little girl is missing. And this guy is the only person on this earth who knows where she is. Nobody else knows if she is alive. And what she needs is to bring her daughter back.

Natalie sits in that hole staring at the place above where she cannot get to and is afraid she will die there.

Antonio tells Layla that after the PI has tracked down Jessica’s social security number, he knows where to go to find her and hopefully she’ll be there soon.

Right then, Tess tells Nash she’s ready to go to her job interview. But she wants to get it on with him first.

Roxie tells the court that everybody loves Natalie. She has two mothers. The cops have tried and failed to find her The judge tells her he is sorry for her loss but there is nothing he can do. Rex stands up and tells him his tax dollars cannot support a court that fails to find his sister. The judge then announces that the court is adjourned for a ten-day recess in which Hayes will undergo a psychiatric evaluation. Hayes goes out with the prison guards and smirks. John and Michael enter. And when he passes John, he says: “You’ll never find her.” When he’s gone, Marcie asks Hugh what he thinks will happen in Hayes’ psychiatric evaluation. Right then, Michael enters. And Marcie goes off with Hugh to get some coffee. John admits to Bo that he drank and went to Evangeline’s last night. Roxie tells John he’s her daughter’s last hope and must find her. Rex goes with her.

We see Natalie, stuck in captivity, crying and telling John she needs him and he msut come and find her.
