Antonio finally finds Jessica. He asks her what she is doing in New York. As “Tess” she tells him that she wants to break it off with him. They are no good for each other.

In his jail cell, Hayes barber demands air conditioning and reveals that he is getting claustrophobic and reliving “memories”. The guard tells him he needs to shut up. Right then, Marcie enters and tells him she knows all about his childhood. She knows about his father abusing him. She also knows what his grandfather did to him. How he was tortured and psychologically damaged, and she knows what he is reliving by being locked up right now. He yells at her to shut up. But she tells him this will not stop for him until he tells her where Natalie is.

Evangeline goes to see Bo with a plan to find Natalie. She tells him she needs to talk to him alone because she assumes that John will not go for it. Rex goes to see Bo and tells him he needs him to find his sister. John tells Rex that he is doing everything he can and Rex must stay out of it. But Rex tells John he really doesn’t care what he does or how he does it. He just wants him to find his sister. John says he intends to do just that.

Right then, Natalie is trapped in the hole screaming for somebody to find her and get her out.

Evangeline runs into John. Bo admits to her that he will have to let John know about her idea. She says she knows and tells John that maybe she saw or heard something when she was kidnapped. There might be some detail that will lead them to Natalie. John asks her if she believes she could have left something out. She says yes. She believes she could have.

Nash leaves a phone message for Tess asking her to contact him wondering where she is and why she has not arrived yet.

Right then Antonio asks “Tess” (believing she is Jessica) why she suddenly wants to throw their relationship away. She doesn’t have an answer that he can understand. But he assumes there must be something going on with her. He asks if she is in trouble? He tells her she must remember all the times they were together, all the times he was there for her and she was there for him and all the times they made love. He grabs her. He tells her he knows she loves him and he will not give up on them without a fight. She does not know what to say to him. She looks like she’s having a major transformation going on. And right then, it looks like she’s turned back into Jessica. She puts her arms around Antonio, cries and tells him she loves him. After the “shift” where she is now Jessica, she is totally confused, does not remember anything that has happened in Tess’s life since the day she bolted from St. Anne's. She reveals she’s had a complete blackout since then. And she asks Antonio what happened. She apologizes for abandoning him. She explains that she could not tell him where she went. She did not believe she had a choice. And that’s all she remembers.

Right then, Nash meets with a businessman. He wants to market his wine samples.

While Marcie is talking and successfully pushing Hayes’ buttons, the guard tells her she might have to leave soon. But she tries to “charm” him by asking if she can stay a little longer. He agrees to let her stay. Hayes tells Marcie he knows that she was tormented in school. She was the geeky fat girl. He remembers the kids called her Marcie Walrus. She says she remembers. That hurt her. But she let it go and got on with her life. She learned to accept life’s tragedies even when she lost the love of her life. She got on with her work. He tells her that her “work” got people killed. Right then, Rex enters and tells Hayes he mustn’t blame Marcie’s’ book. She didn’t do anything wrong. He is a murderer. Hayes looks to be laughing and tells the two of them that they make a “great team”. He tells them they may be having a lot of fun now but they have no control over when or if Natalie is found. He tells them after many years there will be nothing more than a pile of bones left of Natalie and a girl who suffered a long, slow excruciating death. Right then Rex looks at Hayes like he wants to murder him.

Evangeline tells Bo that she has some reoccurring incomplete memories. And she’s thought that maybe when she was drugged and transported in the car, there may have been something she saw or heard or remembered but later blocked out. Bo says that’s entirely possible and maybe she could help them find Natalie. John asks her what she plans to do. She says she thinks somebody should hypnotize her.

Jessica admits to Antonio that she must have had a black out. Knowing what might have happened but that Antonio does not know what Tess is capable of, she tells him she had no choice but to check herself into St. Anne’s. He asked her why she thought she needed to go to St. Anne’s. She tells him she was afraid that she’d be a danger to people she loved.

Rex is ready to kill Hayes after his threats to Natalie. Marcie asks Hayes about his grandfather locking him in the cellar. He tells her he can plead insanity. And in a few years he’ll be rehabilitated and set free. But she tells him that for now, he’s stuck here. Rex reminds him that upstairs the cops and D.A’s don’t want to cut him any slack when they cannot find Natalie. He taunts “poor little Ivan” about being abandoned in the dark. He might soil his pants, Rex says. Marcie joins in with Rex to taunt Hayes. Right then, Hayes freaks and looks scared. Rex asks Marcie if he believes that they’ve done any good. She says she does not know but anything is worth a try of it could help them get to Natalie.

Right then, while in captivity, Natalie is remembering when she first met John and he noticed her as a champion pool player. She then remembers being very angry at him for being responsible for the death of her husband. At first she did not like him. She later became friends with him and then developed feelings for him.

At the station, after hearing Evangeline’s idea that they hypnotize her, John tells her that hypnoses rarely works. But she says anything that could help them find Natalie is worth a try. Bo says he agrees. But John tells them he does not want to traumatize Evangeline for nothing. She tells them that she wants to do what she can in order to end this. It could help them find Natalie as well as enable them all to get their lives back.

Marcie goes and finds Hugh. She informs him that she did some checking and made some phone calls to find out about Hayes Barber’s history. And she found out that he was damaged goods long before she met him. She admits to him that she went down and had a “talk” with him and may have pushed his buttons.

Rex confesses to Bo that he and Marcie went and taunted Hayes. Bo tells Rex he should not have done that without telling him or John. He tells Rex that this may prevent Hayes from ever giving them the information that they want.

Right then, Hayes is in his cell having an emotional breakdown.

Bo and John both believe that Rex’s and Marcie’s messing with Hayes' head has caused him to “go psycho” and prevent him from ever telling them where Natalie is. But hearing that, Evangeline is not worried that that will hurt anything. She tells them she wants to be hypnotized and believes it could work.

While Nash is in the restaurant with his “business contact”, the guy talks to Nash about meeting his sister who is in town visiting and indicates he might want to fix Nash up with her. But Nash replies that he is “kind of taken”.

Right then, Jessica is back talking to Antonio. He tells her he will take her back to Llanview. But she cries and tells him she cannot go back because she is scared. She tells him the reason she went to St. Anne’s is because she was afraid that “she” would come out and kill him. He asks whom she is talking about.

Right when Marcie is talking to Hugh, she notices the woman he was with the first night they met when she got drunk and he helped her. She can tell that his “date” with this woman was not successful. And she doesn’t even appear jealous or assuming that Hugh might care for this woman

Evangeline goes to a hypnotist with John. He asks her to close her eyes and tells her when she opens her eyes, she will remember all the events of the night when she was kidnapped. He counts and she opens her eyes. He asks what she remembers from the time she was at the Woman of the Year award. She remembers breaking up with John and her mother wanting her to get over John. She wanted to get that out of her mind and focus on her speech. Suddenly someone came up behind her. For a minute, she thought it was John. But she felt somebody covering her mouth with a cloth that smelled like medicine. And then everything went blank. He asks her if she remembers anything that happened afterwards. Does she remember being taken anywhere, in a car or anything? She admits no. He asks her to close her eyes again. She then remembers riding in the car and having memories of being a little girl and falling asleep in the back of her parents’ car. But she knew she was not safe. She wanted to panic and scream but could not. Her voice could not work. She did not have the energy. Then she opened her eyes and could barely move. She looked up and saw the back of the person driving. But she did not recognize the person. She did remember, however, the radio playing the song that John liked. And she knew she was completely alone and had to do something, herself in order to get out of there. OR else she would die. She now knew that John’s failure to be at her ceremony was the least of her problems. But she could not stop thinking about him. She keeps saying over and over again that she cannot stop thinking about John.

Nash wraps up his business deal with the businessman. And he is obviously assuming that “Tess” is around somewhere and waiting to hear from him. He leaves her a phone message, telling her that he has a bottle of super expensive wine that he’s saved for 5 years. He thinks they should cork it because they can turn it into liquid gold.

Right then, Jessica tells Antonio about “Tess” for the first time. He asks who Tess is. She admits that Tess is her alter. She is a part of her that comes out whenever Tess wants. She tells him she has the same sickness as her mother. She has multiple personality disorder.

Marcie seems to know that Hugh does not have a future with the woman he was with the other night. He asks Marcie about her and Rex going to see Hayes. Marcie admits that maybe they really messed up. He asks her how. She admits that she used the information she got about him being abused as a kid. And they caused Hayes to totally flip out. And it may have caused him to completely lose his memory about who Natalie is and everything else they want to know. Rex then appears and confirms to Marcie that they did totally screw up.

Evangeline again narrates what was going on when she was riding in the backseat while being kidnapped. She admits that she wanted to keep quiet so they would not know that she was awake. She looked for a weapon and could not find it. But she does remember seeing a map. The hypnotist asks her to tell him about the map. But then, she freaks out and screams and becomes terribly afraid as soon as she thinks about the map.

Again, Natalie is stuck and helpless to get out of captivity. And she admits that she’s lost all hope for John finding her. She again has another memory of playing pool with John and their competitive nature, then bringing him dinner in his room. And they both admitted that they liked each other. And she kissed him passionately. She then remembers all the intimate moments she had with John. But right then, she is hopeless and afraid that she will die there
