One Life to Live Update for Friday, 12-Aug-2005

At the police station, Nora informs Bo that Barber’s attorney is ready to press charges against Marcie and Rex. He admits they crossed the line. He tells her the guy is crazy. She tells Bo, at one point, he may have known the difference between right and wrong. But after Marcie and Rex taunted him, he may have gone over the edge and completely lost his marbles. Barber’s attorney re-enters and tells them that his client is insane. He comes out and tells Rex that any hopes they had of finding his sister may be gone thanks to him.

While Evangeline is being hypnotized, she appears very upset when she remembers the map she saw in the back of the car while being abducted. She relives trying and failing to stay awake while in the car and trying and failing to grab the map without being seen or heard. She remembers the guy saying something about Hayes being out to get her and Natalie and burn them alive. After much prodding by the hypnotist and by John to remember everything, she finally remembers that she saw a topographical map where somebody wrote that the one who McBane picks dies. That could mean that since John chose to save Natalie first, she will die while Evangeline will be spared. The hypnotist reminds John that Evangeline was drugged with chloroform the whole while she was there. And this is the first she remembers what happened. She then remembers that somebody circled Llantano Mountain on the map. She also senses water. Just like the well where Natalie is being kept in.

Jessica finally reveals to Antonio that she has split personality. There is a person named Tess inside of her who hates him and tried to kill him. He asks why she did not tell him before. She tells him that Tess gave her mom a heart attack and almost killed her. And she never knows when or if Tess will come out or what she will do. And she cannot stop Tess.

Right then, Todd is lying on the floor in a pool of blood after being stabbed by Margaret. He then regains consciousness and struggles to get up. But he cannot move. He remembers Margaret revealing that she is pregnant and that he could not harm his own baby and her telling him that he cannot have two different families so they will have to eliminate one of them.

Nash is on the phone trying to get a hold of Tess. But right inside the building he is standing outside of, little does he know that “Tess” has transformed back into Jessica and is with Antonio.

Antonio encourages Jessica not to be afraid of Tess. She is no longer there. Jessica has won. She says that whenever Tess comes out and takes over, she completely blacks out and has no memory of anything that has happened, where Tess has been or what she has done. Antonio tells her they can always find out by going to the place where she was scheduled for a job interview. Hearing that, Jessica is completely baffled, having no recollection of going to the job interview as Tess. She tells him that she has tried and failed before to find out about Tess. She could not stop her from taking over, escaping from St. Anne’s and going to New York City. Antonio tells her Tess cannot hurt them now. But he agrees not to go to the place where she had the job interview, right now. He kinda doesn’t have to since he was able to snatch the resume from the office and find out where she was staying. He tells her that they should just go back to Llanview.

Rex tells Barber’s attorney that he must think he’s really cool. His belief that Barber is insane and not responsible for his actions will enable him to win a case for his sicko client. He’ll be able to impress his wife and kids and get promoted in the law profession. But he’s responsible for Rex’s sister dying and he might have that on his conscious. Bo, then comes out and informs the attorney that Rex is Natalie’s brother. And he and Marcie were held captive and almost killed by his sicko client. And he tells the lawyer he’s not making a lot of friends in this department. The lawyer says he wants to talk to his client. Bo tells him he must know where they keep the criminals and he may go there. Rex then thanks Bo for covering for him. But Bo tells Rex he really needs to watch it or he will be in trouble.

Nash is standing out in the rain waiting for Tess. His business associate tells him they go back a long time. And he can see that Nash is “whipped” by this “new woman” in his life. Nash confirms that “this one” is very special to him. When his friend asks him where she is from, where she went to school and if she has a job, Nash admits no to all of those questions. But he tells the guy that those things do not matter and he encourages his friend to stick around so he can meet Tess. His friend says he has some important things to do and goes out in the rain.

Back in Llanview, Antonio takes Jessica to his apartment. He asks her what she thinks she should do about Tess. She admits she really does not know and cannot figure out what makes Tess come out. But she thinks Tess is afraid of him. He might be what keeps her away. He tells her in that case, he will not leave her side. But she tells him that he might be putting himself in danger since Tess wants to kill him. He tells her that Tess has not come out the whole while they’ve traveled back from NYC. Jessica admits that she loves Antonio and nothing and nobody will come between them. He kisses her but she turns away telling him they cannot make love. And then she is ready to tell him the reason why. He tells her he thought she was happy to be back and feelings safe with him. He asks if she’s afraid that making love to him will bring Tess out. He tells her he won’t let her come out. He tells her he found her engagement bracelet in New York, on the street. They conclude that Tess probably threw it away. Jessica says she knows that Tess does not like to have any “attachments” and that is why, she tells Antonio she cannot make love to him.

Right then, back in NYC, Nash is standing in the rain trying to find Tess. He then remembers seeing the bracelet given to Jessica by Antonio. He tries to call her but cannot find her. He looks so upset, remembering Tess confirming to him that she may be falling in love with him and when he gets back, she will tell him everything.
Antonio tells Jessica that the bracelet is not important. He tells her he gets what she’s trying to tell him about Tess and that she has no control over what Tess can do. He asks her why she cannot make love to him. She reveals to him the reason why. It’s not what she’s afraid Tess “might do” if they make love. IT’s what she’s already done. He asks her what she means. Jessica explains that Tess gets around and is a party girl. He says he remembers RJ and Lindsay saying they saw her at that club. She tells him it’s more than that. She does not want to make love to him because she does not want to put him at risk.

While stuck in the well, Natalie talks about how John saved her but now she might die there. She breaks down crying. She picks up a steel instrument and uses it to write goodbye to all the people she loves.

Rex tells Bo that he knows Evangeline is being hypnotized. He’s seen that hypnotist on television and wants to know if they might be making any progress in finding Natalie. Nora enters and informs Bo that Barber’s attorney is not letting go of what Marcie and Rex did. She tells Bo that it’s entirely possible that they taunted Barber and made him incapable of telling them where Natalie is. Bo says he believes that that won’t happen. She says she hopes he is right.

The hypnotist then brings Evangeline back. She asks how she did. John tells her she was amazing and he does not know how to thank her. John gets the cops ready to go to Llantano Mountain in order to find Natalie. Rex overhears a cop confirming that Nick Macino has come out of his coma and might be able to give them some info.

Right then Natalie writes on the wall of the well: “Good Bye”. Then she writes: “Mom, Roxie, Rex, Jess and John”
