they have in mind for the characters. I really HATE it when the only thing soaps can think of to do with a couple is have them together, break them apart, or have them on the back burner. There have been soap couple storylines I have enjoyed, but after endless putting them together, breaking up, back together, breaking up, I no longer cared.
I know on Grey's Anatomy I no longer cared if Meredith and Derek were together or not -- I just wanted the show to pick a side and stick to it.
Soaps are about drama, and infidelity or a marriage in crisis is dramatic. It is also easy to write. If overused, the dramatic affect lessens to the point of not caring.
I am fine with the show putting Liz and Lucky back together again, or give him a new love interest, but it must be done right, and Lucky has to be given more to do than simply be in a triangle or romance.
