Generally, an alter ego is like:

Bruce Wayne alter ego Batman
Clark Kent alter ego Superman
Diana Prince alter ego Wonder Woman
Rapper Marshall Mathers alter ego Eminem

It's very strange way they wrote that. Simply put, the actor's name is Brent Chase--the alter ego is "Lou" aka the character he is playing on GH. That's what I got from it. Hope that helps.
