Portia showed up in 2020. Brad was no longer working at the hospital by then. But they were on the canvas at the same time. Brad was linked to Ms. Wu and also attended Britt's bday party and her memorial.

So the only logical thing here is--notoriety. Like Britt, Liesl, and Lisa Niles, Brad's reputation, history, and crimes at the hospital are well known. I think Portia's knee-jerk reaction is stemming from taking a plunge into the lab test results tampering that Brad is all too familiar with.
