It doesn't necessarily have to be. Many politicians have been caught DUIs and made public spectacles of themselves (Lauren Boebert fondling scandal, etc.).
This isn't cheating on your wife. It's "cheating" on your girlfriend. And as much as Drewfus sucks balls, he is the victim here. I can't stand him but he is. Ketamine stays in your system as follows:

Willow, Drew, or possibly Lulu will suspect something was up with his behavior. The test will lead back to Lucy and Ethel--I mean Portia and Nina.
Drew has only been to D.C. once that we've been shown, so if they want to solve that problem, this scandal will end his career. Since, CM still does Hallmark movies, they can allow Drewfus to survive this scandal and have an easy way to explain his absence when he makes a TV movie.
