A character in surrounded by flames or in an exceedingly dangerous situation is a staple of soaps.
BUT HOW IT IS SET UP MATTERS!!!! Kristina had no way of knowing a flame would be tossed into the club -- but when there is a STRONG smell of gasoline, you exit the building and call the fire department. And when a flame is thrown in the gas filled room, you RUN, you don't attack it with a small fire extinguisher. Especially when your dad is a mob boss with enemies that recently caused a fire that burned your brother!
Stupidity is not entertaining. And everything they have had Kristina do in the past two years makes it appear the writers sit down and say, "what is the stupidest thing a character would do in this situation" and go in that direction.
