First of all, while concern are valid, it seems like the best approach the US could take is to follow the lead of the Europe and other countries and pass privacy legislation to minimize what data can be collected by big tech.

But they will not do that. See all the big $1M donations to Trump's inauguration fund.

So instead they're acting like TikTok is uniquely dangerous because of its connection to China, but I gotta tell you -- I'm honestly more concerned about Mark Z having access to my data that China at this point. He's proven to be almost gleefully against preventing misinformation or stopping Russian from continuing to undermine the west via election interference and bot attacks.

ANYWAY. TikTok is not the problem. Unchecked and unregulated social media giants, however...

It's also worth noting that the TikTok ban only meant that the app stores couldn't have it available for download, but that TikTok gated itself from Americans by choice and then lifted that gate hours later crediting "President Trump" -- a private citizen who is not actually President yet.

In other words, this is propaganda. He doesn't have the power to do anything yet. He didn't do anything yet. They just know he plans to give them more time to sell. And if looks like Zuckerberg is a pretty likely buyer.
