themselves that mass deportation would not apply to them and their families. Citizen children of undocumented immigrants who have been in the US undocumented for years voted to deport immigrants, somehow convincing themselves that only the newest undocumented would be deported, not their parents.

This is what happens when you vote to hurt others.

And, seriously, Trump and his white supremacist supporters have been very clear about how much they hate brown people — how they wanted to stop the browning of America; how they wanted to stop the Great Replacement and Make America White Again. They illustrated their contempt for unwhite people over and over again with their hateful stereotypes. Mexicans are all drug dealer rapists. Haitians are eating their neighbors pets. Vance just falsely claimed on Fox that Biden and Obama had both banned white air traffic controllers and, as a result, we don’t have the best and brightest air traffic controllers, the clear implication being that brown people are naturally inferior to white men. The demonization of diversity, equality and inclusion (DEI) is all about getting rid of the brown people.

How so many brown people convinced themselves that Trump and his minions only meant other brown people, not them or their loved ones, is shocking to me.

Trump won the election with the votes of so many people who voted against their own best interests; he won the election with the votes of so many people who voted to hurt others.
