Note: illegally fired. It's easier to fire a probationary employee than a non-probationary employee, but you still need cause - "because Elon Musk says so" is not actually cause.
Not that laws or the courts seem to matter anymore.
So, anyway, if the jobs market gets even worse and the unemployment report goes haywire, you know why.
I've heard from people from NIH, NPS, CDC, and USDA so far for sure, and I know that list isn't comprehensive.
