If it was not just a fear but a reality that we have a not-insignificant chance of being attacked every time we use the public restroom? Sure, I've been to some sketchy bathrooms with creepers lurking in my day. But not all the damn time, regardless of where I am. I'm able to say "You know what, not this one, I'll go find one where I feel safer." That feeling doesn't exist for most trans people.
