While he was right in his speech last night, let's review why many progressives are done with him:
1. The transphobic crap he spewed this spring.
2. Trying to cut Medi-Cal for older Californians and individuals with disabilities that would have thrown 120,000 off of Medi-Cal. (Legislature ain't having it).
3. Pretending to care about undocumented immigrants when he proposed reversing the Medi-Cal and SNAP expansions that he made a huge deal of as recent as last year.
4. Trying to cut DEI training for the Regional Centers (which coordinates services for the IDD and DD population), I guess as part of his pretend shift to the right. Legislature ain't having that, either.
Whatever my feelings about #3, this kind of pandering is nauseating.
He could have also enacted these expansions in #2 and #3 in a slower and more thoughtful manner, while ensuring that medically-needy seniors and individuals with disabilities who are lawfully present could actually access Medi-Cal, but no. He never took that step. :/
Short-sighted and ridiculous, and now everyone pays the price.
Whatever.
