This was a good night for us - rare these days, lol. It wasn't really in doubt that Walkinshaw would win - this is a very blue district. But Walkinshaw overperformed Harris in 2024 and Biden in 2020, winning 75% of the vote. It's really important that NoVA voters are motivated - it's not showing any signs of what happened in 2021, and Abigail Spanberger maintains a clear lead for the governor's race. Virginia has some of the worst job losses in the country, thanks to Trump. We need help, and we need advocates. So far, Youngkin and co have miserably failed to rise to the challenge.
In the short term, Walkinshaw intends to sign onto Massie's motion to release the Epstein files ASAP and he has indicated he will not be a blanket yes on voting to fund the government - he said he wants to keep it open, but won't participate if it's not bipartisan and if Virginians are being harmed by the bill.
