nights. I cook Monday and Wednesday, he cooks Tuesday and Thursday (a leftover from when he was working part time, Monday-Wednesday-Friday so he was OK with cooking on his days off) and we fend for ourselves or eat leftovers Friday-Sunday. But since Dad's not a "cook" per se, I made dinner tonight. It was a traditional Thanksgiving feast, with a mix of homemade and store bought items; I cooked the turkey breast and made the stuffing and green bean casserole but I bought the sweet potato casserole, rolls and cranberry sauce. I was going to make mashed potatoes too but then I saw Dad eating some for lunch. He made too much so he put his leftovers in the fridge. When it came time for dinner, I grabbed the container of mashed potatoes and threw them in the microwave to warm up. As Dad came in for dinner, I proudly presented him with a table positively groaning with food. He looked it all over, spied his container of leftovers...and asked me why I was serving grits for TG dinner.

Yep, turns out he made grits and not instant mashed potatoes this afternoon and I just assumed the lumpy white stuff in the bowl in the fridge was taters. Turns out grits smothered in (Trader Joe's store bought) turkey gravy are pretty tasty but I don't think it's going to be a new TG tradition.
