I’m really enjoying the characters, story and themes of Little Fires Everywhere. I definitely identify most with those rulebreakers, Mia and Izzy. I don’t think I could live in a place with so many rules to conform to, regardless of how “idyllic” that place might be.
I have a few more Barbara Ehrenreich books on my pile right now. I probably read a lot more nonfiction than you. I love good fiction and good nonfiction equally. I really love good immersion journalism (like Nickled and Dimed and Jessica Bruder’s Nomadland).
