First I finished the books that I had started but didn't finish because I couldn't focus on reading.

Ten Steps to Nanette: A Memoir Situation by Hannah Gadsby. She's a stand up comedienne from Australia and I find her terrifically smart and funny and I relate to her autistic brain. She's been through a lot, but I appreciate how she's come out of it.

The Cuban Affair by Nelson DeMille. A veteran running a fishing charter in Key West is approached to retrieve some hidden money in police state Cuba. It was intriguing and suspenseful when it was warranted, and I wouldn't turn down reading more by him.

Grisham's The Boys From Biloxi. Grisham is always a good time, and thus was no exception. An interesting take of two boys who came from the same place and end up on completely opposite trajectories.

I also read Ford County and The Exchange. The former is a collection of short stories and the latter is the sequel to The Firm. I enjoyed both. I'm not sure why Grisham was inspired to write about Gaddafi era Libya, however this was an engaging read, though I found the ending a bit anticlimactic.

Killers of the Flower Moon by David Grann, of course the book behind the current movie. The true story of the Osage Tribe in Oklahoma. They were moved to OK by the gonvernment and were given headrights to their land, and ultimately after that, oil was found. They were given millions of dollars from the government for the oil, but the money had to be put in trusts run by white men. The Osage started being murdered in large numbers and this led to the real establishment of the FBI and J. Edgar Hoover taking over. I would like to read David Grann's other nonfiction.

The second book in Fredrik Backman's Beartown series, Us Against You. I loved it. It definitely wasn't lacking in sadness and tragedy, but hope kind of rose up through it at the end. I have the third book, The Winners, waiting on deck, but I'm taking a break from the overall bleakness of the setting. lol

Now I'm working on The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid, author of Daisy Jones and the Six. It was advertised as the perfect beach read and it has good reviews, so I chose it. A 79 year old reclusive old Hollywood actress wants to tell her life story to a magazine writer who is at the moment going through a divorce. She tells, the story of her husbands, relationships, career, and there's a mystery about why she really wants the story told.

Then the Matthew Perry book. sigh

P.S., I don't really read anything holiday themed this time.of year. Not on purpose anyway. lol
